Their offer sounds too good to be true...any catch? Slow? Unreliable? Downtime?
For $48/year (!!!!) they promise:
500 MB webspace
30 GB transfer/month (!!!!!!)
100xPOP3-Email
CGI-BIN
PHP4
mySQL
SSL
SSI
FrontPage Extensions
Custom error pages
Password protection
Mailing lists
Autoresponders
Any comments on this host are appreciated...thanks!

Have you checked out their forums? That might be useful to read up on their customers' feedback. But for $48/year, I'd say it's worth a shot... if, and only if, it doesn't work out, then you'll be wiser the next time, right? ;)

Right now, they might be okay, but as soon as they grow, they are going to have to cut down on bandwidth usage.

Their forums only have ~30 posts, that and they're playing the numbers game.

Well, I'd recommend them. They've been great for me, although it's only been about a month and a half.
Checking archive.org, it looks like the myqth.com site has offered paid hosting since early 2001.

 no sub-domains!

Oh - I can live without subdomains as long as I get all the stuff they promise...for $48/year. What bothers me a bit though, is that the MyQth Admin allegedly considers to sell his business (he made a statement on their board) because of all the fuss, fraud attempts etc.
And I wonder if it is possible to offer 360 GB of bandwidth/year for only $48 - or is their calculation based on the assumption that you actually don't use it..? A further problem is that they, according to the TOS, may kick you whenever they want and for whatever reasons, expressly WITHOUT any refunds...hmmmmmmm..... :confused2

30GB? Not sure if I'll ever need that much.

Definately not recommend. They'll be overusing there services so much during peak times you'll notice it. No service can afford to give such high bandwidth quota for such a price.
Since you've paid yearly you have no choice but to move or suffer the poor quality of the hosting.
I would recommend choosing ukname.net for a good reliable host.

But then again, it could work I mean rackshack gives $300 BW for $99/month, depends if cogents lives or not.

You have never used the service so you cannot possible make any comment on it.

If in fact i purchased 10 of these accounts (costing me $480/yr), i was using 30gig bandwidth on each of them
the line required to support such transfer (300gig/mo) would cost the average business at least $300 monthly. Unless you don't mind the transfer being capped so at peak times, it will slow accessing the server.
now, compare $480/year to the cost of the connections they need.

If.........
Is a very flexible word.
The fact is you have not done it and therefore you do not know.
You do not know how the sites on the servers are balanced.
You do not know what services run on the servers and what the load average is.
This sort of plan seems to be getting as much flaming as unlimited but surely its fairer this way when there is a definite ceiling.
The bottom line is it works.
I see no complaints from any of the suers that it does not
and I have not seen any complaints from them for the past year or so since the brand started.
Here is an uptime graph for one of the fully loaded servers.

And here is a screen print of the server load for the same server
