View Full Version : Music, in suicidal terms

Although I haven't heard any music that would really make me think suicidal thoughts, I just thought I'd let people know how fragile the brain really is in comparison to the wonders of science, art, culture that we have so created or invoked.
Beethoven's Symphony #9 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Symphony_No._9_(Beethoven)) in regards to the anime show Read or Die is put as the "Death Symphony" and makes people commit suicide or think about suicide more rapidly.
I don't know what you people think because I ain't you people. The reason why I am bringing this up is because of the fact I have seen a few threads here discussing the killing thoughts of suicidal people or just plain killing of people. So I guess this is to shed light in a dark place, hm?

Quick! Somebody get this kid a counselor.
Listen, we've all thought about suicide at least once. Most of us didn't attempt it, and none of us suceeded. The time in my life when I thought about suicide isn't a point in time that I like to think about.
"Shedding light in dark places" isn't something that needs to be done very often.

It's the same with me Tree... I ran away from home once during my 10th/11th grade year(s). Unfortunately I passed out for a few on the road until I finally awoke to the sound of a car going past the road behind me, but then reversing and coming to me. Rain sucked at that time, and it was damned cold.
There was another point in time when I was at my father's at night gonna use a butcher's or large kitchen knife to poke me a new one through the chest... fortunately I put it back before I could do any real harm to meself and I told the school psyche.

You know that band...uhh...what was their name, the nu-metal band with the chick as the lead singer (yea, I know the name, but you see...). That one super overplayed song made me kind of want to kill myself. Or others. As long as there was blood flowing, my mind was at ease.

But now you can see music actually can induce brain waves to think about these things faster or act out rather unconsciously.

I'm thinking, replace elevator music tape with that. Or just somehow make it hidden behind elevator music. And then press all the buttons as you walk out.

That would be funny, but as tests have shown, speakers cannot produce such sound, correct? So, only in fiction TM....
Edit: You know what? What if you listened to Square Wave sounds all day? I bet that'd make you funny in the head.

How simple life would be if none of us had ears.
DarkBlood
March 6th, 2006, 14:29
Yeah, but what would we gain if we had no ears? We would lose that sense, but gain another...
telepathy?

I already use telepathy.

I would lose the ability to hear, and gain the ability to decipher sound waves and translate them into audible tones that my brain can recognise.

Nice, but it's the same as what the ear essentially does.
Can I hear a "No Duh!" for that sentence? :P
