I have files for IPB 1.3 wich I found some where. Is it leagal to use them if you don't have a liscence?

Files for IPB 1.3.x free version is all right. However, if you use IPB 1.3.x files that were from a site that has a registered version, you'll have to worry about chat files... as chat does not come normal with IPB 1.3.x

It is legal for you to use it if you downloaded it from the IPB website, anywhere else is illegal. Just a thought, how will IPB know where you downloaded it from?

Just use it, no one can determine from where u downloaded it.

Actually, they can ;) When you download IPB, it goes through a process which collects your SHARED IP, and they check newly put up boards' owner's shared IP address.

On http://www.invisionpowerboard.com, do you see anywhere in the downloads section where you can download PAST VERSIONS of IPB? All I see is version 2.x.x

If you downloaded it from their site, you can use it, if not then you are not authorise to use it meaning after IPB took it off their website, anyone who downloaded it after that has downloaded it from another source.

Hmm I can't rember where I downloaded it from but i know it wasn't the IPB site. Is it free to get it from there?

Yeah but that is not the site. The site is invisionboard.com. They don't have a download section though.
