Hi,

I recently reinstalled windows and renamed my documents and settings folder, documents and settings1, so that I can go back and get the old files. I had to reinstall because my old version was corrupt and wouldn't start. I now went back to retrieve the old files, and it says access is denied. Probably because I had privitization for that folder on. Is there any way I can get my locked files back?

Start in safe mode, and click "Administrator".

get a free NTFS reader, boot into does, run the reader, and copy/paste the files. It's kinda technique if you have never dealt with DOS before.

Otherwise, a Linux Live CD will be good for you. Linux does CHMOD permissions, unlike Windows.

I'll keep trying, see if anything works. Thanks for the ideas. It has all ym itunes purchased songs so if I can't get them back, I'm screwed.
