Thread fixed. :p
I'm not a big fan of any OEM systems. I like to build my own.
And for the record, Compaq doesn't manufacture any of the hardware they use.

So, what, you disemble the computer and then resemble it in a more custom way? or you go to a local electronic store and buy parts? If you're going to buy parts, what's the point? :p
Wojtek
April 16th, 2006, 16:35
usually its cheaper to buy parts individually and assemble them yourself
.Joe.
April 16th, 2006, 16:56
Yes, yes. But I rather pay a little more so I don't have to make it myself :p
We're getting a bit off topic now..:D

Custom Build for me. My favorite hardware manufactures for parts are Asus, XFX, PNY, Seasonic, Thermalright (spelling?), Seagate, and of course Intel :P.

And the Improvement we saw pushing out of those 12mhz were mind-blowing.
Remember the XT with the Turbo Button? 4.77MHZ/10MHZ.

desktop parts I prefer MSI mainboards over anything
Server parts I think it's a tie between supermicro and tyan
dells are garbage, if you are going to get a dell you might as well get some AOL while you are at it to make a nice crummy system

Remember though, you can never ged rid of AOL. It doesn't want to leave your computer.

I was able to uninstall AOL completely from one of my old boxes when I first got DSL... of course that was also AOL 4.0 so I suppose some things may have changed since then.

high failure rate, lowest bidder bottom of the barrel goodness. I worked in a higher volume tech center and them and sony were by far the worst companies to deal with

sounds like their business support is horrible..... maybe they are better at providing support to home PC users..... i dunno.. i have had absolutely no problems with them at all... the customer support that i have had with them has been top notch...

If I had to buy an OEM computer, it'd be an Apple. If I didn't have a lot of money, I'd probably buy a Dell.
But I custom build. AMD, MSI or Biostar, Western Digital or Maxter, PNY or generic/cheap-brand.
