How much do you think this could be rented out for per month?

How much would you actually pay for this a month?

Good luck renting it out at all. Seems a bit older and P3 really wont assit you much in any way shape or form. Probably not the news you wanted but surely needed to be said. However you can always upgrade the processor and have a decent machine there.

I'd agree with about $50 is what I can sell P3's for. But they sell pretty easily for people with small budgets.

With 256mb, you are sitting on a white elephant be it dual processor or not.

Try running a Dual Xeon 3.0ghz on 256mb ram :)

I dont say it's slow at all. It's a bit out of date, but coming with RAID SCSI and dual CPUs (real dual, not HT). A good P3 with SCSI will easily win a low-end P4 box with IDE disks

I agree with the spces but the RAM is where the bottleneck is.

it would be a good backup dns server thats about it but I would say 50/mo should be fine

Wtf dude you don't need dual p3 800 mhz processors JUST to host a forum or dns server i had a server running fine just recently for my friends to download stuff stats

it ran fine for them to download of they were getting 50 kb a sec downloads which is pretty gud considerin i am on 256 kb up speed

There's no way they were getting "50 kb a sec" unless you really do mean kbps and not kBps. And if they were only getting 50kb (~6 kB) on a 256k line that's pretty sad. :lol:

WEll, i don't think putting it up for rent is going to be profitable. It'll costs more than 300 Euros just to get is hosted in a datacenter.... with not even a TB of bandwidth....

Go install a forum, and a DNS server on a P100. Give the domain name. Watch it fail in 10 mins.

Acturly i turned it on every day it ran fine all day never crashed thats about 10 hours at a time it was on never had a problem u just don't know about older processors

p100 is older, an Athlon xp 2000+ is technically older. Are there much older procesors? Hell yeah. Do these people have experience with a commodore pet? Doubtful, but we're in no position to judge.

I'd guess a hell of a lot, that's the downfall of buying super computers these days, a super computer in 1994 went for 1.3mil, and is now a complete piece of trash that couldn't run dos.

One thing for sure, I know you cannot run my favourite game AOE2 on it and neither can you surf the net with that, correct me if I am wrong.

acturaly i was wondering if u could help me i got this box i think its a computer screen it won't turn on theres this button in the corner i duno wat it does and on the back of the pc theres these slots on the back of the power suply i duno wat its for can u help me please mr mighty idiot

Its actually very simple, smart kid.

1st. use your left hand and look for the little HOLE at the back of the computer with the 3 pins. Stick your middle finger there.

2nd. Then with your right hand, switch on the power point and then stick your middle finger also in the bottom-right HOLE.

This should turn on your P1 and you are ready to surf the web.

hmm sorry we dun have a bottom right whole in australia its 2 pins at top and earth wire at bottom
