Hey, just a heads up, catch-free has been up and running for over a month now, with 0 downtime but I don't think many people realised:D
powered on insanely fast dedicated's (p4 3.0s with HT;))
catch-free is one of the fastest and best hosts, with fantastic uptime and great specs.
www.catch-free.com
NO ADS OR FORUM POSTING FOR BASIC PACKAGE, INSTANT ACTIVATION!
Just wanted to get the word out:D
I no longer own catch-free, it took far too much time, but I'm sure the new owners are more than capable of handaling it.

you mentioned INSTANT ACTIVATION??

Your application for FREE hosting has been received ...

Website Address: http://www.*******.catch-free.com/

Unfortunately your application does NOT qualify for
INSTANT ACTIVATION and will be processed manually by a network
administrator on a first come, first serve basis ...

The reason your application will be manually processed:
Email address is disqualified for instant activation!

my email is valid...
now i have to wait?

needlehost
April 30th, 2006, 12:19
Ok, the nice people at catch-free will now manually process your activation becuase something about you/ your email triggered an alert in the systems.
This could be for many a reason, things like, you having been booted off other hosts. Don't panic, there are many reasons, you may still be accepted.

needlehost

sigh, if you apply multiple times, youre account gets processed slower, its 1 account pp and if they see you try to get one twice they then have to be very very carefull.
hence, very slow.
also, dont ----- at me. i dont own them

the first, we don't allow proxy
the second, we block several spamming IP based on list of spammers that was reported from all of the world, because it's abusing many servers.
In easy way, call it blacklist.

ROFL LMAO LOL !!!!! You can't find good entertainment like this anywhere!

Two pages of wrong assumption posts and repeated bad speculations
on various items and not one single person thought to actually contact
Catch Free Hosting? We have a support department --- TRY USING IT!

Ok, best way to sort out this non-sense would be a post by post response
so here is partial quotes of each previous post to indentify the post from
the thread above followed by our response:

Hey, just a heads up, catch-free has been up and running for over a month now, with 0 downtime but I don't think many people realisedYou are correct and Catch Free is OPEN and accepting signups!

If you want to get technical, Catch-Free has also been running with 100% perfect uptime and reliability since last March too. (Pretty much standard for all our companies)

you mentioned INSTANT ACTIVATION??
Your application for FREE hosting has been received ...

All hosting applications are processed instantly and there is absolutely
no waiting whatsoever if you qualify for hosting. The message you quoted in your
post regarding our signup system on page #1 of this thread is not valid and that
message can be safely ignored. The message you quoted is currently being
generated because our company's signup software was not originally designed
for Catch Free and we are still working on updating all the various display screens
for use with Catch Free. All signups are indeed instantantly processed though!

Ok, the nice people at catch-free will now manually process your activation becuase something about you/ your email triggered an alert in the systems.Good speculation and indeed some applicants don't qualify for various reasons as you described such as being in a blacklist database, not old enough, etc. However, AndersonV1 did qualify for hosting and was actually activated instantly and just didn't realize it.

"Hosting signups closed for maintenance!" ... bummer
We shutdown signups for about 1 hour roughly about a week ago so that
we could make a couple software updates to the signup system. You must
have tried to signup during that 1 hour window since what you quoted is
part of the text message we displayed during that hour.

it gets closed once a week so they can clean up the system!
False! Weekly maintenance and cleanup does not require us to take the signup system offline.

The only time that we take the signup system offline is just specifically when we
need to update the signup system software itself.

No one will reply on it. I have waited for two week and i have try with all different kind of email. Never work.
We answer all email messages and support tickets when they are received.

First, you have NEVER tried to contact us! We keep a log not only of
successful email but also all failed attempts as well and I can tell you with
100% absolutely certainty that you have never sent us anything. You
might want to check with your ISP or mail service provider to find out
where any missing message might have gone.

Second, trying to submit multiple hosting applications sets a flag that bans
you from being able to signup for hosting and moves all of your appications
to the end of the processing line.

@ andersonv1, you must be using free email service. we encountered some delays with tfree emails like yahoo, gmail, etc.
I know you are trying to help but you should not be giving people wrong
information like that because they will think you know what you are talking
about any you are just guessing. If anyone needs to know the status of
their application, they can use the status checking system or send email
to support@catch-free.com.

I dont know how to sign up!
This is definitely one for the stupid books! Go to our web site at
http://www.catch-free.com and click on the link that says
"hosting" of all things! Amazing!

well it says my isp is banned anyway...
We don't have any "banned ISP" messages nor do we ban ISPs.
If you are getting any kind of message like that in your browser
then either your ISP or your Computer / Router at home is having
routing problems of some sort.

The only type of IP blocking we do is just checks against big
blacklist services such as SpamCop, etc and the message displayed
for those is totally different and does not say your ISP is blocked
or anything similiar to that.

Your application for FREE hosting has been received ...

Website Address: http://www.*******/

See my response to AndersonV1 above .... same answer.

Yeah that was obvious crap idea to be honest. Not that i would like this hosting but if they typed in the wrong detail's they don't have a second chance.
ABSOLUTELY WRONG! All applicants who need to update their application
are instructed to contact technical support at the address that I gave
previously and we can update and re-submit your application for you.

I did give my first and last name.. what?
When you connect to our site, we instantly run a complete background
investigation on you before you even reach the hosting signup page.
If the name you submitted differs too much from your legal name by
more than a marginal percent to account for name abreviations and / or
nicknames then the system will bounce your application and you will
need to contact support to explain before your application can be
processed any further. Same email as given previously above.

There is one for the stupid books!
The host didn't sound that bad to me but after reading that I'm not to sure what to think of it.

Are there limits on what kind of sites can be hosted? Like can non-profit sites, fansites, game sites, music sites, or sites that only have a bunch of codes on them get hosted?

Catch Free?

The following file types are forbidden on FREE hosting accounts: .EXE, .SIT,
.CAB, .WMA, .WMV, .M3U, .RM, .RAM, .RA, .MOV, .QT, .AVI, MP3**, AU, BMP, .TGA
and any other file format that Catch Free Hosting deems usage restricted
on FREE hosted accounts. This restriction also includes any of the above file
formats that have been renamed to some other file extension which incidentally
is grounds

Answering your first comment above regarding Buileminh, he said he couldn't
find the signup form after he already signed up for hosting (post date) which
was the first reason both needlehost and I picked on him a bit above.

The second reason which I wasn't going to tell anyone until Buileminh just
mentioned it himself is that he was dumb and posted all his login information
and password on a public forum community right after he got hosting and
caused a really big stir as several hundred people started logging in using
his account before we got his password changed to fix his screw up.
Can we say a really big "OOPS!" here?

Anyway ...

Answering your second question, most of the types of sites you listed would
be perfectly fine and is not a problem. If you host any music such as MP3
file or other audio file formats, it cannot be copyrighted songs. Music from
your own band is perfectly fine and permitted. Games themselves cannot
be hosted at Catch Free but having a site that talks about or supports games
such as gaming clan forum sites are perfectly fine as well.

To Bahram: The "Catch Free" name refers to the fact that we don't place
any advertisements on your site, require you to place any text links,
force you to post in our forum community, or require you to have some
sort of minimum traffic as required by most of the hosts out there. We
believe hosting should be available without such complications.

If you read the posts in our forum community as well as two other threads
on here at freewebspace.net, you will see that the message you speak
of is bogus and you can disregard it.

We used to have both instant and manual signups and when we went
to "instant signups" only, that part of the software was disabled but
the message is still displayed anyway .... you can safely disregard that.

All applications are processed instantly and depending on whether you
are approved or not, your hosting account will be created immediately
right there on the spot.

Based on what you said above though tells me that your account
has already been created and is sitting there waiting for you to
upload your files.
