View Full Version : WHMCS Review!

Well you may have already read about my dilemna, I had purchased a few scripts and unfortunately they kind of collided. I had bought a support script and WHMCS which has built in support features. In the end after talking with the people over at WHMCS I have decided to stick with WHMCS as the primary system and then the other script as a sort of backup.
Anyway, WHMCS has alot of very good features such as the domain availability checker, server status page, knowledgebase and more. After looking through all of it, I feel as if the monthly fee that I pay for it is a bargain. Personally, I feel that they are under pricing it but who am I to complain?
I have contacted WHMCS on a number of occasions and I have had my emails answered within a few minutes, if that is not for you then they also have a live chat service which I have also used and it has been proven as effective. I would recommend this billing/support script to anyone as it is worth every penny! I am sure more people here use WHMCS, if so share your reviews!

Yes, I do use the system and it is great.
I upgraded today to the new release, which was sent out today actually. (I have the owned licence).
However, I encountered problems while upgrading and contacted WHMCS on their Live Chat thingy. I first spoke with Tom, whom was very polite. However, he obviously didn't have a clue what to do as he handed me over to Matt.
I always found Matt, even through email, to be ignorent. Today was no exception.
I told him of the problem, even gave him access to my cPanel when he TOLD me to give it to him.
Give me your ftp details
He couldn't figure it out either and basically said, "well, sorry about that. Good bye". I am like, "WTF?" so I says, "Ummm Fix?". He replied and goes, "Excuse me?" so I told him that the problem was obviously with the upgrade and not at my end. He said that if I uploaded the dbconnect file from the upgrade it should be fine. I told him that "I did upgrade the file. Twice. And it's not." His reply was, "Sorry but it is." and he closed the chat.
My inner feeling on Matt is once he has your money you can go to hell.
I do recommend the system but do not rely on them for support. Matt is an a**h*** who doesn't care about the people who spend their cash on him.

Well I hope I don't talk to him on a bad day, the upgrade which came out today was a simple one for me, simply upload the files and run the upgrade script. I was done in about 2 minutes.

Yes. That is usually the case for me, just not today. Anyways, I managed to fix it by uploading the DB Backup.

Maybe if you are paying monthly when he knows he has to rely on your payment each month. But I find him to be a jerk.

That's good to know, WHMCS has already passed competition like WHMAP and as it is always being updated it should catch up on the market leaders like ClientExec and Modernbill very soon.
Anyone here familiar with this software?
I am still having serious issues with it and getting no joy at all from Matt.

What are you having trouble with?
What are you having trouble with?
Go to http://www.danethicalservices.com/clients/
You will see it redirects you to upgrade.php which doesn't exist because it has been deleted after the upgrade.
I had errors in Calendar in admin and then this happened.

Have you tried running the upgrader again? Try uploading all of the files again and then run the upgrade file once more. If that doesn't work I will look into it further.
Wojtek, what kind of scripts are you interested in, as in what type?

something similar to ipanel or xpanel?
I ran upgrade.php a while back and it said I cannot upgrade because I am already running the latest release.

Wojtek, I will look for you, I am sure I had an iPanel license so once I can remember the password I will check for you.
Dan, are all the pages being redirected to upgrade.php?

Well, if all of them are doing it, then the problem lies with WHMCS and if they cannot help then you're stuck. You said that you don't like Matt, maybe if I contact him and pretend to have the same problemas you he will atleast try to help me.
I wish I could do more but I am no php guru!

Yep.
I uploaded the new files a couple times and ran upgrade and it says that I can't upgrade because I am already running 2.4.1

Those are the warnings I am getting now when I go to calendar in admin.
Also, when I send an email to a client, it does send it, but it doesn't store a copy under their profile like it should.

Just replace the calendar.php & run the upgrade again.

Matt is currently attempting to fix it.
Will let ya know how it goes.

But I find him to be a jerk.
Reading my mind ?
Although the script by itself is quite good , it still needs a lot of improvement.
BUT , this program has the worst support I ever had in my entire life. After I found a bug the way credit and tax is working, I just got an answer that this is the way it should work.
Bringing the topic to the forum resulted in being locked out of the forum, although I never used bad language, or flamed or ever even raised my voice.
The integrity of this one-man show is as bad as his support. Various edited , locked and removed post prevents others to see what’s really going on over there. Editing others people writings are what we call here counterfeit.
If you want to give your accounting in hands of such people, be my guest, but remember the warning.

I have to admit, I like the system allot, and I know none of you get on with Matt, but he has helped us out with allot of problems we have had in the past, and he has fixed them very quickly.
Back before the system had stock control, we needed it ASAP, and without it, the system was useless for our needs. Matt helped by developing the stock system for the next upgrade, and sent us a quick patch over that would add stock to our system.
The system is full and complete, and I agree, it's worth every penny.

I have tested whmcs and awbs products and find that awbs has much more features then whmcs for the same price. There are of course - one is their template system, but you have modified that - it isn't so bad :)
Since I have multiple server and multiple control panels I needed something to handle it - WHMCS was suppose to handle plesk and said it was supported - but all is it wasn't(when I looked at the program- 2 months ago).
I also like the automation of awbs with domains - you don't need to click like 5 buttons to confirm a domain purchase.
I would recommend - because of the features AWBS..
Thanks,
Adam

Supported Servers
» cPanel/WHM
» DirectAdmin
» Plesk
» SCPanel (NEW!) More Info
» TCAdmin (NEW!)
I have tested Plesk using WHMCS, it works fine.

WHMCS now supports automatic domain registration.

Did you try it on a windows Plesk server? This was 2 months ago.. when they came out with the new version.
I would hope by now it is better.
Thanks,
Adam

There was another update for WHMCS just a couple of weeks ago so I'm sure it's a lot better now.
I've had no problems with WHMCS and Matt has helped out a lot. Any problems I've had, I contact him and get a reply within a few minutes.
