I got economy hosting along with my domain. I have the hosting all set up but does anyone know where to upload the IPB software? There is no public_html directory?:confused4 I even tried making one and a forums folder and it still didnt work. All it came with was the access_db directory, which is empty, and the stats directory and two forms: gdform.asp and gdform.php.

Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?:confused4 Any input is helpful.

Or you could just call them up and ask seeing how the money you're paying goes towards support as well.

I do not know what sort of control panel system they currently employ but some places call public_html something different

httpdocs
root
httpd
public_html
home

when you login to ftp you may already even be in the "public" directory

Mate, are you stupid or something? The answer is just one toll free call away from you, yet to come to people who don't have hosting with Godaddy for help.

Well since you didn't read their FAQ which is where I looked first for you here it is direct from their FAQ without any editing by me.

Uploading Files to Your Web Site
Last Updated: September 27, 2005 5:35 PM

To upload files to your Web site, you need an FTP client. FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol. It lets you connect to a remote computer, such as a hosting server in another state. Using FTP, you can move files from your machine to the remote one and create folders for those files on that computer.

Some popular FTP clients are:
FileZilla
Fetch (Mac)
gFTP (Linux)

If you are using Windows XP, you can create a network connection to your Web site. You might also be able upload your file using the same software you used to create your Web site. You can use popular programs like Macromedia Dreamweaver and Microsoft FrontPage to upload your Web site.

You can also use the Hosting Manager to upload files to your Web site. See Using the Hosting Manager Web-Based FTP Client for more information.

After downloading and installing one of these clients, you can use it to connect to your hosting account. These are your FTP settings:

FTP User Name
This is the user name for your hosting account.

FTP Password
This your password for your hosting account.

Web Site URL
http://www.example.com

FTP Site URL
ftp://www.example.com

Start Directory
Some FTP clients will ask for a "Home" or "Start" directory. Our hosting service does not require this. Simply leave the box blank or enter a single forward slash (i.e., /).

Hey, what kind of control panel did they offer you? The "public_html" can come in different names aswell. Hmm, and yes. GoDaddy isn't the best place to buy hosting. It's been given many bad reviews, but they're great for their domains. I suggest you refund if they have a "x money back guaruntee". And swifth hosts. If you don't want to, keep trying to look for that different directory folder, it should be there somewhere.

Sorry, didn't see must be blind.

But, when he logins in via. FTP the main folder doesn't have that "public_html" directory. Which he needs so that people can access his site.

He doesn't need that, it's different in a lot of hosts, it's still better if he contacts GoDaddy as they can check his account for problems...

The blank box in godaddy FTP Client.Let me guess you are using Internet Explorer. If you use firefox as your browser you will be able to visualize it.It is not a godaddy issue.
