Try making the pixel font smaller like 7. Is it set on none?

I would try setting your banner to a smaller depth, as when users narrow the window down to a smaller scale, it wont look as good compressed.

looks like you just used a paint brush from deviant art and put it in a box. nothing special yet, but has potential. keep working on it and post updates. good luck

i never can find anything on deviant art it confuses me :S lol :D

Looks pretty nice for your first template. What pixel font are you using? Looks like Visitor. I'd say mess around with the font sizes 6, 8, and 10, while using NO ANTIALIASING, and see how that looks.
