There are a few sites that offer free domains, I have seen no such offers in here, or answers to reuests that are successfull....

Man, don´t waste your time with domainspeaks... I tried them, I filled up their damn application form (which is pretty long, probably longer than ma whole hand)... I was waiting a long time for their answer... They said me something that "We are sorry, but we have to say you that we can give you free domain name, because we´re givin´ domains for completed sites only, not for under construction"... And what´s the best thing about it?? I was pointing them to my homepage which isn´t under construction !! It is done already !! Now, I think that nobody can give you free domain name... I can put any damn ad(s) on my site or other ----ty things in return for free domain name for my site... But it seems to be harder than I expected... Well, probably every student like me can´t have own domain unless he buy one. I can´t buy because I haven´t money and bank account and I have nobody to ask to buy a domain for me. In my country it´s pretty hard... :(

Well, everything is possible in the world...it is possible if you have an allready established website with traffic, then some people will be probably interested in sponsoring you a domain and hosting in exchange of placing thier ads...and they can make a good business out of it.

not everything, for instance, climbing a tree using just your ears......or making an elephant, using only sellotape and string......

We at nymka.net offer free domain names but it contests and it at least once every 2 months (from my pockets) or more if the revenues from the ads allows it.

The only thing that people dislike is that its contests (any type) and it obviously requires some activities on the forum. If you are interested, the contest for the month of july/august is a forum posting and referral contest.

www.nymka.net join, I can feel very generous any day. I gave away 5 domain back on another forum that I used to moderate... all in the same day ;)

I give away free domains after you earn it by posting on my forums. Also, I have offers that you can complete to get one. To view how it works, go here: http://tetrahost.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6

Also, how do you turn posts into domains, am I missing summing ?

Simple, here's how I do it in 5 steps:
Step 1: I log into my paypal's account and transfer money from the bank account to my paypal account(only if empty)
Step 2: I type the URL of a domain provider
Step 3: I buy the requested domain with the data of the winner
Step 4: I give the login info to the winner
Step 5: The winner makes his favorite dance of joy (not required and only if extremely happy)

I told you, its simple!

no, I thought you had some trick or something, maybe a domain registrar that sponsors your domains in return for visits to your site....I'm just confused, because posts do not necessarily = income, so what do you get out of it ?

what about domain renewals ? do you pay for them aswell ?

There's no trick for this unless you make alot with ads, its impossible to get those domains paid with the site's income. Post are not income but they build up the community. As an offline company that decided to build an online community just for the pleasure of helping people that are searching help in technological domains, we want to build a fairly big forum! The problem with new forums is that no one wants to join unless there's something for them at the end of the line.

We do have ads on our forum but they are used to help us provide domain more frequently and if we can get enough money out of it, we are planning to ship a USB stick or something like that to a winning member around the New Year time.

We can pay it but they must win the contest a second time, if they win during while their domain is still active, we can extend it to a second year.

If you still don't get it: The admin is paying a new domain from his own pocket to the winner every two months. That is for sure. But if he makes some money on the ads he will add more contests. But minimum is once every two months.

You're a fast learner Mange, you're absolutly right and this will prevent the others (uhm uhm, KRAK_JOE :P ) to misunderstand my posts.

cheers
