Content delivery provider Limelight Networks Inc has secured an impressive $130m in its first round of equity financing, which it will use to expand its multimedia broadband services in Asia and double its capacity worldwide.

Wow they got a new web site.

Limelight specializes in media delivery; or in other words, loads of internet bandwidth for cheap. I could be wrong, but I believe they're a Tier 2 provider, which means they're routing together a network of Tier 1 guys like Cogent, HE, Level(3), etc. Oddly enough, it looks like they've started a seperate gaming network - which has to be a much nicer collection of providers, as GSP customers will complain about anything.

It doesn't appear that Limelight rents dedicated servers or even does colocation, however. If you wanted to use a Limelight network, you'd need to find a provider who connects to them - I'm sure there are plenty.
