What kind of hits do free hosting companys get?

No. What makes you ask?

I have ran free hosts with 50 million+ page views a month (10k + uniques daily), and hits would therefore be higher than this as it includes images etc

damn, i thought i was special ;). (with my 1,200 monthly hits (more then dubbling every month) wich is awesome).

I think we push about 75k a month. nothing major, but enough to fill boxes.
