Private switchFlaunt August 13th, 2006, 04:42 Is a private switch necessary for your server? heymrdj August 13th, 2006, 07:14 If your renting a server (aka buying one from any of the hosts here), no you don't need a switch. If, however you're colocating (sending a server to a datacenter to be connected), then you will need to provide a switch if you have more than one server to colocate on one connection. AvailNetworks August 13th, 2006, 17:53 generally the dc will have one or you can negotiate into the deal. Unless you are planning for a half-cab or more usually the dc will provide it for you Flaunt August 13th, 2006, 19:24 Ah, I just wondered. Server seems to be slowing down for some reason AvailNetworks August 13th, 2006, 20:15 put up an ip for us to try it out. or a test file should do it as well Flaunt August 14th, 2006, 07:50 Try pinging this one: 72.36.132.125 I'm getting 5% packet loss from my end AvailNetworks August 14th, 2006, 09:06 I did 100 pings from a few locations and received 0% loss Keagle August 14th, 2006, 11:00 I'm getting a 0% loss too. JewlzK August 14th, 2006, 15:40 0% loss over here as well. utcrazy August 14th, 2006, 17:08 0% loss here, must be your ISP. Yellowmc August 14th, 2006, 17:15 Same here, 0% loss. Flaunt August 14th, 2006, 23:30 That's a relief! I can't kick my ISP out, more's the pity. Well, as long as everything's up on the user's end! Thanks, people | ||||
