VPS - Kinda Splitting a Dedicated Server in to Smaller Dedicated Server :)
Maybe some Bookish Language help you
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_private_server
Special server software can divide one physical dedicated server into multiple virtual servers (VPS's). VPS's have their own operating system and can be installed independently from each other therefore they function just like (little) dedicated servers.
A VPS shares a server with other VPS users, but hardware performances are guaranteed. With a VPS you can install software independently from other VPS users. On server level you can use your own configuration and adjust all user rights as you please.

A VPS stands for Vertual Private Server.
Each VE or Virtual Environment is a partition of the hard drive with specific resource allocation. The reason that it is less expensive than a dedicated server is, rather than have a full computer assigned to one user, one server is usually assigned to multiple users. Each virtual environment has the ability to have different control panels, OS’ and root access to them as well. Each can also be reset as a normal dedicated server can.
