find someone else to take it over!
for real, find a good advertiser for it so you can mantein the server/reseller for long. Don't make ridiculous plans and encourage your users to give you something in return (ads, posts, etc)

don't use automatic signup systems they are more trouble than they are worth, make sure you submit your site to as many search engines as possible, and never eat yellow snow ......

Don't be a fool list so many free hosts - don't spam requests on forums with generic responses. Try to actually provide a quality home page and not ad filled sign up pages like most hosts? So far I've seen a good 10 companies* open and close in the free world just in the last 6 months. Good luck.

Find a niche that needs hosting. Target that niche. Offer free hosting to sites that belong to that niche. Place an ad bar in each site with affiliate programs for that niche.
You will need less time to run the host, you will become an authority site in that niche and you will most likely make more money.
