Urgh. What an awful signup page! Look at all the questions!

Bleh. I hate pop-ups - I think I'll stick with my banner-displaying hosts.

Well, do you see any ads on mine? I certainly don't...but if anyone does, please tell me immediately.

I'm only judging by what it says on the site...

What, exactly, has that got to do with 9cy reopening its signups?

All those questions are to put people who abuse off. There annoying but its 5 minutes to get an account if you realy want one its not to much....

As for popups there popunders and one loads per session. In every poll I have ever done everyone favours them over banners on the page. Its a matter of opinion but the majority like the popunders over banners

OK, but why not add a "no-comment" section? Atleast that way, people have to still fill it out, but don't have to provide any personal info which is totally irrelevant to the hosting deal...

Personally, I don't care to share some of the details you ask.

- Aquatix

(BTW, most companies asking such questions sell the details onto database distribution companies...)

Well if you don't care to share them with me don't sign up.
I have never even looked at the details only to see that the name isn't asdf or something along those lines. As for the questions asked there hardly that personal.

We never use the details in any way other than to check the name and address aren't made up.

When I check the 9cy sites to see if they are abusing or not, I honestly do not care whether the info is accurate or not. If it's just asdf, I'll, of course, be very suspicious, and look further. But unlike Paul, I won't delete a regular site if the info is made up.

Without wanting to sound like a nitpicker...

Yoy have "ICQ Number" as a required field. Why?! What if you don't have ICQ?

Age AND date of birth aren't necessary, either.

As for education, marital status, well...

(P.s. Why hasn't FREEBOARDS got ads on it?)

Excellent to see you got that little "niggle" sorted...

FreeBoards doesn't have ads because it's not a normal 9cy account. Notice how 9cy accounts are 9cy.com/members/pagename, not 9cy.com/~pagename.

9cy supports PHP.

And... what does Paul means by this:

Well, when you see a row of "asdf"s, it's not wrong to suspect warez or some other form of wrongdoing. So Paul checks to make sure the address is accurate, just to make sure that warez doesn't infiltrate the servers. But if you have a decent website, I wouldn't worry about filling in accurate details.

Exactly I don't mind fake details I never am going to use them, as long as the site doesn't abuse or break the rules I don't mind..... Just when people use cmopletely fake details its easier to suspect warez.

Fact is today I deleted about 300 megs of files/storage/warez from 600 megs total in the new accounts on server 2, that was me alone doing that there's another 4 people helping to. So you can see why I do everything I can to stop warez sites uploading.

They advertise 1 Tb of transfer, but that's just to get U hooked. htf is right; they want U to have 2 or 3 simple HTML pages with a few pics that don't eat up bandwidth but provides visitors so they can make money. Any site with downloads will be deleted cus they use up bandwidth and don't ensure page views. Paul should jus be honest about it.

"1,000's of users" ROTFLMAO! He seems to have a lot of time on his hands to delete sites.

And do you have any proof of this?

There are quite a few sites taking up more than 35 GB, and as an administrator of the accounts, I know that 70% of all the accounts have more files than just html/image files. We delete sites that do not have content; you cannot use it for file storage.
