I have always felt that they are our biggest threat.

I'm not sure about that, they dont really have a resign to bomb anyone.. Hopefully verything will go smoothly.

Marky
October 4th, 2006, 13:24
lol, they don't like South Korea, thats one good reason for them to bomb someone. They don't like America either because the U.S cheated them on the agreement for alternative power plants "-_-. They don't have much to lose...

Nug

I dont think they going to bomb a country just because they dont like them, if they do bomb anyone, north korea will become a hole in the ground.. And they know that.. But yes it is a scary thought, and I hope they come to some kind of agreement..

edit: I really hope a nuclear war doesn't start, the bombings of Nagasaki and Hirosima were the worst things that probably every happained to this earth:( That's why I wear lots of anti nuclear bomb signs! I would hate this to happain again!

You are forgetting the global disaster that wiped out the Dinosaurs. :eek2:

The problem with North Korea is that if it could, it would attack the West.

I think North Korea just wants to be left alone, it's way too weak to be invading other countries.

There's a lot of humanitarian issues in that country though..

It's possible. But the people in N. Korean have no knowledge of the outside world, so they're fighting a blind war.

Blind or not, doesn't take Einstein to launch a fully functional nuclear warhead at their neighboring country (South Korea).

That really made me laugh, it's a total contradiction, nuclear bombs are not an easy thing to manufacture, not by a long shot, it takes years upon years to perfect this technology.

A good nuclear bomb would not just wipe out the neibouring country, but eventually, within a few years up to 70% of life on this planet, humans could not survive on this earth, that's for sure, only basic creatures, such as fish, insects, some larger mammals may survive, deep in the sea, where it would still be warm(er) but even they wouldn't last long, through pollution and ignorance, humans have nearly wiped out the planets natural protection from disaster, namely the ozone layer - a nuclear bomb would vapourise what is left of this, if you want to see what earth would look like a couple of hundred years after a nuclear bomb, it would be more like mars than anything on this planet.

The MI5's and MI6's CIA's and interpols of this world know that, if there was any chance that anytime soon, a nuke would be set off, you can bet your bottom dollar any one of those agencies would sacrifice every human life in a 1000mile radius if they had too.....to preserve not only mankind, but every kind alike, every animal and living thing you could list ..... and the planet that we live on ..... you could easily flatten that radius before anyone would have the chance to set off a nuke, even if they blew the bomb to bits, it wouldn't go off, they do not detenate on impact, that's not how it works, so there's nothin to worry about on that score .....

Marky
October 5th, 2006, 22:19
haha North Korea has manufactured them, it doesn't take a genius to aim it at South Korea. They don't have to launch the nuke by a missile, they have other ways such as Artillery. What worries me, is if North Korea actually detonates a nuke for testing, that it will bring radiation to the sea near Japan. The Japanese are going to end up eating radioactive fish... thats bad!

Well, I believe North Korea test a nuke to tell US they are not joking about having nuke with them. I could see worried faces in Japan, China, America and South Korea.

http://www.seismo.unr.edu/ftp/pub/louie/class/100/magnitude.html
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_weapon_yield

The blast was 4.2 in the richter scale. 4.0 is equivalent to 1kiloton of TNT, 4.5 would be 5.1kT (logarithmic scale). to put that in perspective, Fat Boy, Little Man and Trinity were 12-22kT. While you wouldn't want to be anywhere near it when the blast does go of, it's not particularly powerful. The US still has active warheads as powerful as 1.2 MEGAton.

I know which nuclear power I'm worried about.

Marky
October 9th, 2006, 06:15
wow now how much space would a 1.2 megaton nuke wipe out?

They can sell it.

More over, any nuclear country is less likely to be invaded -- very few would risk getting nuked as a 'last resort' kind of measure :usflag:

Should of invaded North Korea earlier, but everyone would criticize the US if they did ...

Looks like some of us will end up fighting against the KPA (Korean People's Army)
This is a sad news but the world is now on alert and negociating what sanctions need to be given and the UN is also talking about an even war. I personally think there will be a war over this but then everyone would turn their attention away from Iran, the second spot we are going to attack later on.

Not even Bush is stupid enough to bomb/invade a country that has nuclear arms, or at least has the potential to. Even as a joke, that was stupid.

oh yeah, bush claimed that iraq had WMD, and invaded the country, so what stops him from doing it with iran. Until this moment iran is saying that her nuclear program is for peacefull purposes.
BTW, Israel, Pakistan and india all have nuclear power, but you don't see anyone talking about it

Because Bush knew Iraq didn't. If they really did have WMDs do you think he'd have risked it? It was more of a vendetta then a 'War on Terror'. Israel, Pakistan and India aren't conisdered 'rogue states', at least as far as North Korea is.

Can you please tell me, who is in charge of categorising nations, and dividing them into categories. Pakistan And india have very bad relations with each other, and with both nations having nukes, any small conflict betwenn them can spin out of control and cause millions if not billions of lives, and as far israel, well hizbullah kidnapping 2 soldiers and killing 8 led to an all out war that raged for 33 days, what do you think would happen if syria dicided to take back the golan heightsm that could spell disaster for the whole region in case of the use of a nuclear weapon.
N.Korea shouldn't have made/tested a nuclear bomb, maybe that money could've been used to be shoes for the poor N.Korean people, but what would you expect from a nation run by a sex maniac, i heard that the N.korean president has the biggest porn collection in the world

i watched a "60 minute" show, where they were interviewing an american who was a prisonner in N.korea, it seemed pretty bad, they had a schedule for all the detailts in his life, when he has to wake, when he had to pee, they even brought him a wife and told him when to sleep with her, maybe so they can have times to set the hidden camera!! :)

I was reading up a little more about this because it seems to be becoming a more important issue.

http://www.kimsoft.com/2003/bush_war.htm

^^ this website pretty much shows that N. Korea is the only country that is able to fight the US military superpower and has the political will to do it. It also tells you how military analysts' worst nightmares are a war with N. Korea

The North Korean Ambassador to the United Nations said that if these "provocative" actions continue, his government would consider a declaration of war. I read that article above, and it forgets to mention that if war is declared against us, we won't need the UN's approval to launch an attack. In addition, it won't only be the United States and Japan against North Korea. I would imagine that cooperating UN member states would contribute their forces to the fight as well, with the exception of (probably) China and (maybe) Russia.

im not too sure if the U.S will use nukes even if the North Koreans do.
Japan and South Korea could buy nukes of the U.S and use them, its possible

When the US went to war with iraq it didn't ask for the UN approval, well actually it did, only it didn't get it, but the US went to war anywayz.
In case of war, things can turn real ugly, the china is an amzing power, and the last thing they want, is US troops at their borders, remember the korean war, thousands if not millions of chinese "volunteers" joined the fight with N.Korea.And on the other hand, both china and russia don't need another nulcear power in the region, so it's hard to predict what's gona happen.
The best solution is to seend Paris Hilton over there. She has all the power to convince the N.Korean president to disarm.

P.S:Did anybody watch Team America: World Police, they were in a situation pretty similar to this
