Hi, I am Chris Lewis. I started out where I had a free reseller. Then I soon upgraded to a $10 / mth plan. I kept upgrading to a sdedi server. Now, after 3 years, I make 3x what I put in for server costs. This is all because Kevhosting.com gave me a free reseller 4 years ago. I upgrades 1 year later.

Now I am giving back. When people are nice when they personaly request something (like a domain), I give it to them for a great price (in advertisements).

How did you guys start?

I'm not a free host, but I started out in the industry in 2004, and after I learned quite a bit, got a VPS, and have since upgraded to dedicated servers.

AHPlace's timeline:

Reseller => VPS => Dedicated Server => VPS => Dedicated Server => 2 Dedicated Servers.

Might get a 3rd and a 4th server soon.

May 2003: Quit
August 2006: Realised my passion, to help people get hosting, a big industry.
August 2006: Bought a Paid Reseller, running smooth.

Aims: January 2007: Do good in exams, Get a VPS, and alot more clients.
Aims: July 2007: Get a Semi-Dedicated Server.

I actually started about 15 years before the web itself even began
and originally back before even gopher and telnet days! :)

(Ok, I just really dated myself  )

Back then, I had a multiple phone line BBS (bulletin board system)
where users each had their own posting areas and would call in
with their computer modems from all over the country to connect.

When the internet started getting more popular but still before the web,
we moved a lot of our BBS functionality to a telnet based system on the
internet that people would access by remote telnet connections.

When the web finally came along and replaced gopher (web predecessor)
then we closed down all BBS operations completely and started opening up
some of our early hosting services with massive unheard of 2 MB of space
and for 1,000 posts, you could even upgrade to an amazing 5 MB! ROFL

Oh how the world has changed since then! LOL
