Hey guys,

I just started up a site called www.VistaX.net in which we will have a full featured website with all info on the Windows Vista operating system and discussion about new products and updates with Vista including things like screensavers.

What do you guys think about this idea? Does this site have a chance to go anywhere, or should I give up on it?

Thanks much,
Pat

Might have Pat, but there's no site yet (well none there when I checked) to judge if it would be interesting or not.

As long as you keep devoted to it, it is a great idea! If you don't follow through then you should probably drop the project. IMO: go for it! :)

If Vista is a registered or trademark name, then your screwed.
It seems the Vista is a trademark name, I'm not sure what's gonna happen.

THe trademark thing can't stick, it's a dictionary word for a start, so MS might get their ---'s sued for it if they try that one :D

Oh yeah, I've never though about that... Vista is a dictionary word... But so is Windows?

Yep but they trademarked Microsoft Windows Operating System, gave them a lein on the contraction.

Also the word 'windows' was all part of the WIMP interface, so both Xerox and Steve Jobs must be gutted at missing out on that one.

Vista will still be under the windows umbrella unless they change course just for the trademark.
Apart from that Pat's site would be a freebie for them! If it's good he could get it listed by MS - oh crud, that would be scary :D

Eek, Hopfully Microsoft wont be coming after me, I don't see why they will. Their was a company called Vista (was www.Vista.com) which was a big web devolopment company and it was a sister company off of innuity.com. Now im sure its gone now because of Microsoft, but the fact is that Microsoft took the name Vista even while the company Vista.com was still open. Either way, when XP came out, many companies still used the XP trade mark. Hey, my speaker system is called XP 200 :P

But, I do believe Microsoft will try and come after me for something, but we'll just see how far they get. I'll be working on the site this weekend into this week and it should be opened next week, I will keep you all posted and thank you for your support!

Nah they won't. Your small and no threat to profit (don't think your more in their scheme - you have no site or presence, they don't care) if you have a 500,000 per day site then they may make an offer.

Paranoia is a weapon you know :)

ROFL? Hijacked? That domain isn't hijacked. The domains are expired, when domains get expired, it will display a parking page depending on the domain registrar. You can't "un-register" a domain so a parking page will have to be there.

Not true, if it expires it will not be parked. It will show a page cannot be displayed unless the registrar decided to keep it, than they'll just display some sorta ads on it.

I know my registrar actually held the domain hostage for 3 months after the domain expired, that way they give me another chance to buy the domain off of them ;)

Just finished up the BETA layout for it

View it at http://www.vistax.net

I do understand that some pages are not working. These include the forums page and live chat page. At this point, all I need to know if a site with this type of layout has potential.

ALSO - I will be offering free blog hosting, let me know if that sounds good and if its worth while ;)

Thanks much guys

-Pat
