build-a-host

I have noticed over the years that the people who request free hosting are geting quite rediculous. I remember when all the free stuff started, that some were offering 20-50mb disc space and MAYBE 1GB bandwidth. Now a days people are requesting 10gb disc space and 200gb bandwidth with NO ADS and NO forum posting!
When I was young and had no idea what I was doing, I remember asking for a small amount of disc space and bandwidth that I could use for testing purposes, but the market today is crazy! You have people like Godaddy offering 250gb bandwidth for $3 a month, which is just a loss leader for them but, it's putting a real hurting on the ones that are just starting out and trying to offer quality services and a regular price. Young people these days see that Godaddy can do it for $3 a month with that amount, and they also see these kids with a reseller offering the same for FREE and they figure that it's just the way it goes, well it isn't!
I may be wrong, but I think that, in the near future the whole web hosting industry is going to be turned on it's ear and out of business, only the big will be able to survive. Kind of like Wal-Mart. They open up in a small town and run every little business that makes that town what it is, out of business!
Nothing I can do about it, but, to all of you who are requesting insane amounts of disc space or bandwidth for free with NO ADS or forum posting, you need to take a look at what a reliable server costs and then re-think what you ask for.
