Those of you that have a recent Gecko or Opera. Check this page out - compare to how it looks in IE.

Sure it's cool, but it takes FOREVER to load all those PNG's. Just think how long it would take someone on a 56 K with a low end system.

You won't see it anyway in that old troll you call a browser. :D

Alpha transparency. PNG isn't limited to one transparent color like GIF. It can also use "gradients", any level of semi transparency/opacity. You need Opera or Netscape/Moz to see it (don't know from which versions).

Hm. Well that doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me... but okay. :classic2: Does it mean like... if you save an image as PNG, the background will be transparent no matter what background colour you use; so therefor, you don't have to screw around with colour settings and stuff, like with gifs?

If that makes sense.

Yeah, I looked at it in Opera and it worked... damned if I know which version it is tho.

Not the background, any color. Not only one at the time and to any degree. Like when you work with trasparent layers in PS/PSP or similar. The underlying layers shine true

Sure it's cool, but it takes FOREVER to load all those PNG's. Just think how long it would take someone on a 56 K with a low end system.I'm using a 56k modem, the page only took maybe 25-30 seconds to load. No longer really than a page with large GIFs would.

Ah, so that actually did get posted. MySQL went down right after I clicked the "Post" button. Anyway...
bah if gifs does most of the job, why use png?That's the point, Trenzterra. A GIF can't do the job of a PNG. That's why you'd use it.

It loads the images very fast in IE because IE does not display the special feature being shown on that site, the Alpha Transparency. When I loaded it in Opera however, it took almost 45 seconds because it was loading the images with transparency, which takes quite a bit longer.
