100mbps shared unmetered

Sorry guys, its silly old me, can't get my head around these silly little offers the dedicated server providers of today are coming out with.

100mbps shared unmetered servers... What’s the deal with them?

If it's shared, it's not unmetered...

Unmetered, means I can use ALL of the 100mbps for the whole month without being cut off, but how come they are saying you only get 6-9TB per month? Surely if I was to use my unmetered bandwidth it would be over 40TB per month...?

So is this just another scam? - Sorry, I need a final verdict, it's just everyone has been offering unmetered 100mbps servers and at a cheap price...

actually, it's more of a word game. you're actually sharing an unmetered 100 Mbps connection, you're not mixing the shared and unmetered word, so it makes sence in some way

So basicly if 40+ people are using 1TB of bandwidth each, you could get as little as 1 to 2 TB per month?

Remember, not everyone uses their full capicity. Also, a 100mbit supports 32TB if pushed 24/7.

Normally all providers assure you 5-9 TB of transfer on a 100mbit port, but it depends on how much capacity the others on your node use.

The terms mean different things:

Shared unmetered bandwidth
Dedicated unmetered bandwidth

The 100mbps shared unmetered bandwidth is considerably cheaper because you can't keep up the max uplink connection. You just can't.

Im using a shared unmeterd 100mbps port and Iv not found any issues with it as of yet I guess we will see tho once i start using over 2TB amonth ;p
