I turned on my hardware monitor for my motherboard. It immediately told me that my minus 12 V line was out of range,. Its limit was between -11 and minus 13 V, but the current value was -13.1 V
pirate2 is this going to cause a problem with my system? My power supply is about five years oldoldman2 , it hasn't been used in the last three years. But I don't want to update by powersupply until I ge a new motherboard and CPU as welll

i think it wud work. but it might present complications later on. so i recommend that you upgrade ur power supply now. if u upgrade it now u wont have to upgrade in the near future. cos new power supply systems wont come out in the near future.

I'm not very familiar with power supply connector types, but I thought that the new motherboards use a different connector for them powersupply. mine is an old ATX for the days of Athlon 1700 and DDR266 RAM.
I thought that the new systems use power supplies with extra pins?

I'm pretty sure all power supplies use the same connectors to the mobo.

No, there is a huge difference in the connectors. a pentium 2 power connector for the mother board is different than a pentium 4

Hmm. I saw the 6-pin (2x3) PCI-E connector
But I also saw a 2x2 one, and a 2x4!
maybe that's the server one...

My PSU is v2.0 compliant but doesn't come with a PCI-E connector?

It's not ATX 2.0 compliant then; probably 1.3. ;)
