Well, it's that time of year again - looking for a new host as my old one (who was quite good) decides that I have more money, so charges twice as much for the coming year as previously.

Seeking a hosting package which:

1/ is as cheap as possible - < $3/month
2/ allows me to host both of my domain names
3/ has ftp
4/ has cgi, php
5/ has mysql - at least 3 databases/tables please.
6/ at least 200mb space, "unlimited" data transfer
7/ pop mail
8/ reasonable uptime

9/ will not give me a low price this year, and increase the price ridiculously next year.

All I want to do host my vanity email (which I forward to gmail anyway), a wordpress blog which I use for my personal notes, and a personal photoalbum which only my close friends ever view.

Thanks for the replies.

I realise that there is no such thing as unlimited transfers, hence I put the quotation marks around it. Clearly, the way I am using my hosting, I will never reach any reasonable limit - at the moment I barely use 100mb a month. What I want to avoid is some kind of limit that, if I did for some unusual reason go over, gets me charged. I figured if the plan was "unlimited", should this happen, the most the host could do is shut me down.

I'll wait a while longer to see if there are any more replies. I'll take up the offer of the cheapest person...

Oh, just one more thing, I'll need some form of web-management system, as I would have no idea how to change settings/ create tables/ etc any other way.

Although I hope I am not offending anyone in doing so, I thought I might leave some feedback.

I ended up choosing Visage Hosting for these reasons:

1/ Their website was not a cut and paste job, with a half decent logo that didn't look like some kid designed it. Even if it is not a reflection of how good a webhost is, at least it gives the impression that they cared enough to design it properly, or at least pay someone to design it.

2/ They had an uptime of over 99%, which was monitored by a seemingly independent website over more than 100 days.

3/ They offered the best deal for the price.

I don't know why everyone keeps on telling me about the unlimited plan thing. I have explained my reasons - I don't want to be caught out paying a huge fee, although it is unlikely to happen one can never be too cautious. Yes, I understand that I get what I paid for - that's why I came here to look for a host! Maybe I should have stated that I'm older than 12 (I'm 29).
