I use Crafty Syntax. I've never used any others, though, so I can't compare.

oh well crafty syntax seems to be bad looking and when talking to people sometimes its not that fast, (from my End) and yes we will test them both for sure but we would like to know what others think :)
happy holidays to all :)

I'm as a customer prefer Help Center Live. It is cosy to me.

I don't like either, but if I'm forced to use a free one, I'd choose Help Center Live.

in the past i have used both.
with help centre live i always had problems with the javascript not working (tried 3 different browsers) and this was on different hosting accounts too.
with crafty syntax it just *works*

hmm nice so i would consider using crafty syntax until now and make some changes to its interface so it would look nice :)

I have not tried Help Center Live, but crafty syntax has been good to me throughout the years, so I have to stick with them.

I have worked at a company where we didn't switch to a better (in me and my co-workers opinion) exactly for that reason.
There is a new fork off Crafty now that has some interface changes. Even some additional functions, in case thats important. :)

I currently use Crafty but have used HCL before.
Out of both, It's hard to determine which one I would prefer but if pushed to it I guess I would have to say CS

HCL seems to have lost all support and it looks a bit abandoned. Crafty is mildly ugly but it works well.
If you are serious about live support though I would dig into the paid ones like liveperson.net or check to see if you helpdesk has one available like kayako does

Apparently kayako's live chat system is quite poor with lots of broken chat connections.

I know we use kayako and I have no interest in doing live chat and haven't really looked into it much.
From what I noticed when offering live chat/aim support was that people often used it as their primary means of support, even before making a ticket or even reading the manual. If people have to go through the ticket making process generally they will take the time to look and see if they can fix the problem themselves.

That's why I only have a Sales department on the chat.
Support issues have to be logged in via the helpdesk for tracking purposes.

We try to discourage live help from being too much support. If it is a fairly easy question we'll answer it. If it is something that needs some real support time we'll walk them through creating a ticket.
Shine live help does allow for multiple departments to be created, like a Support vs a Sales department. So if you wanted to offer both it makes sure it goes to the right people.
It is a fork off of Crafty, pretty obvious by the layout although the interface look has changed a lot in it.
