Have an old AthlonXP 1700 based PC. Yesterday, an Antec NeoHE PSU to swap in. Wouldn't turn on. USB Hub flashes for a sec only.
Thot maybe power draw wasn't enough. Swap back old PSU in. Wouldn't turn on. PSU fan almost starts up and makes a small noise, then stops.
PSU-ATX connector was next to 3 large capacitors (in the way of the clip). Maybe moving the connector in moved the capacitors a bit? But duno what to do now.

On further testing. Seems everything works IF I don:t plug in my SATA power. My SATA HDD is 1wk old, so I dunno why this can be.

Power available from your PSU, you've looked at it it all but something is drawing it from the PSU.

Well, now BOTH PSU, just DVD/etc plugged in, turns on, POST beeps.
Plug in SATA HDD, PSU doesn:t power. Tried plugging in SATA when CPU etc already started. PSU stops.
How can this be? Even if we assume a power surge hurt my HDD, my other parts wouldn:t work then. So why just HDD? Why would the HDD stop the PSU?

Well, I'm gonna go out on a limb here since I don't know what hard drive you have, but...
tell me you didn't connect a SATA power connector and a molex connector to the drive.

Seagate 7200.10 320GB. Was working fine on my old PSU with a molex to SATA power adapter.
Sth happened while I changed PSUs? But I cannot imagine what. Since I didn:t touch the drive other than unplug the power.

Yeah, Molex/SATA power adapters should work, though I've never used one myself.
It doesn't make sense that a hard drive would cause your system not to boot though.

At first glance you might have fried the mobo, but it seems you just don't have enough power, get a larger PSU.
