Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could tell me where they advertise (who with), how much they would spend and how many customers/month and dollars/month they get for that.

I have been trying to premote my hosting company for over 6 months now and i have only sold about 120 hosting accounts this equates to about 500 dollars/month, my server rental is 300 dollars/month so i am barely breaking even.

Thanks in advance

Try Adsense, as in paying them to show your ads =) I know it's not great, or you could buy some private ads on pages such as FWS..

Cheers =)

The main problem with your hosting, is the fact that you offer a little scam on the side :P

"Unlimited Bandwidth"

It makes anyone educated in the subject of hosting run like the wind, and with more and more people waking up and actually looking at what they are buying, it's getting harder to sell scammed hosting like yours.

If you want some advice; get a better website design, the $200 you get per month, spend it with a web designer, that will bring more customers your way.

And back onto my first point, think about the ethics of your hosting. Unlimited Bandwidth is a scam, everyone knows that now, it might be worth investing in a real server (If you have an unlimited bandwidth server; what else are they lying to you about?) as stated, it's most likely driving 70% of customers away from your site, that’s 70% more sales you could make by being honest.

So the real problem is not advertising, it’s the inner workings of your host and it’s style. – Concentrate on your ethics first :P

I currently have a server with a 10Mbps unmetered connection and 2X160GB hard drives, i offer unmetered hosting to many customers, so far none of my reseller customers total disk usage tops 15GB and none of their bandwidth tops 200GB, they average out at about 2GB disk space and 20GB bandwidth per reseller. My current server uses about 2,000GB total bandwidth and about 150GB Total disk space. As you will agree this is significantly less than i can offer and all my customers find my services excellent.

The problem i have is just getting the customers in the 1st place. Any other ideas.

Thanks

I see you have editied your site. Very nice.

One thing: On your website you state these two things:

We currently have 8Gbps bandwidth capacity.

We currently house hundreds of super fast servers with 10, 100 and 1000Mbps bandwidth connectivity.

Yes, you have contradicted yourself :P You first said in this thread, you have a 10mbps connection (3.3TB) and on your site you say you have first of all an 8gbps connection, and then many servers on 10, 100 and 1000 mbps connections.

Another few details you should change:

We supply literally 1000s of top companies with all their website needs

Name one :P - Yeah, I thought so. It's a lie and would put people off.

Ok google, but how much would you spend, using what keywords and what kind of sales would this bring in. i was looking and to get a 1 to 3 rank for web hosting keywords it can cost over 15USD per click, far to much considering that everyone who clicks will not buy.

Im not sure if someone would be comfortable in sharing that info with you. Anyhow, It will totally depend on your target audience, advertising budgets etc. What works for one host, might not work for you. I would recommend you to try playing a bit with google adsense on your own so that you can find what works for you and what does not.

what you mean, with people you come into contact with?? your right, thats how i got my designing up and going, serving all those who wanted sites with low prices. I used to charge them $40 and said if they paid an extra $40i would set up their site for them (free hosting, inc domain of choice) rather easy considering i had the extra space and hey, they wanted to pay for it :P.

Try TV Commercials, that will get the locals some-attention. And by the way, most of the time your locals are the ones who can pay a lot for less. Like $20 for a 100MB/1GB disc/transfer plan.

Try magazines. They too will get a hell lot of attention!

no I mean direct mail, Local newspapers/publications/etc.

Local clients have a MUCH higher price point, and they are generally far more loyal than your everyday hosting client.

Local clients are more forgivable with errors and won't bail out over the smallest of things, in return we give exquisite service (phone support, fully managed hosting, script installs, 3rd party script support, etc)

Every local client we service pays at least $19+/mo for even our most basic package. On average they submit 1 support ticket every few months and make the occasional phone call. Generally I call them more than they call us just to see how things are going and if they have any questions.

Also with local clients don't drop your pants on price, business's WANT to pay a premium price for premium service.

That is what I was taking the whole time.

Also with local clients don't drop your pants on price, business's WANT to pay a premium price for premium service.
This is what I did to my school. They said they need top notch security for the website. I suggested a dedicated server. Then the asked how much and I told them Rs.8000 ($180+) for a normal $35 server. If I had given them the actual web price, I would have lost my professionalism. Price on your local customer does matter!

It will work. 100% sure of it. Unless you have a stone-age neighborhood! ;)

i would suggest having some offers....like a free domain with paid hosting. Infact if you feel .com is too much to bear....go in for a .info. A site is selling a .info for $0.89.

Also few reseller accounts can be given for free.....profits from any sale from these accounts could be shared percentage wise. Advertise THIS on various hosting forums.

Another way to advertise is to market your services to potential buyers. You can see so many requesting for hosting. Key would be to check the forum as often as possible and catch the buyers b4 anyone else does.
Also note that there are many who read the threads .....they may or may not be interested in hosting.....who cares, you get free advertising.

....these are more unconventional methods though ...hope it helps
