Anybody here providing Bulk mailing solution?

I had a question too, Does anybody know around how much time would it take a Dual Xeon 3 Ghz Server with 2 GB RAM to send 25,000 emails? Each email will be around 8KB.

Well why are you sending 25,000 emails ;), depends on how your sending them, etc. there are many aspects that are taken into consideration. Including but not exempting:
-Port Speeds
-Transfer Companies
-Transfer Amount
-Background Processes
-Program to send emails
-Time inbetween emails

There are alot more, but it really depends.

A big company will be sending those mails, all are opt-in :)

The server will be running no other service other then the bulk mailing service. It will be on a 10 Mbps Line. We just want to know the fastest time in which this can be done.

Any ideas?

Im not looking for someone to offer us any service. We can very well offer Bulk mailing solutions ourselves :)

I was just looking a answer from some experienced in this field.

Hosters can't offer you their services. You have to post your questions on the different forums and compare answers and suggestions.

I can send an email to 16,000 with few problems.

with a 10 mbps, you should have difficulty, i think you can pretty much run the numbers but.... =)

That is impossible to determine with the information at hand ....

The size of each message plus the destination location is just as important
as your server specifications and bandwidth.

Generally speaking, you can estimate a couple of seconds for each message
transmission multiplied by the number of messages and can get a rough
ball park estimate.

If you set a cron to run a simple PHP script that sends out say 250 at a time it could lessen the load, I used to do something similar....
