actually i got the exact latitude and longitude, which can be easly got to a location. And check out http://foruminstalls.home9.dk3.com/trace.jpg
you know how people said they were having problems, well i did a trace, and the ones greyed out didnt give a response, so they could be the problems.

it is fairly big, but worth checking out.

It is possible to track someone's location. How do you think the FBI do it?

They ask the ISP who had a certain IP number at a certain time I should think.

Your ISP has a record of which account was using a given IP address at any given time. They can then can check the account records for that username, and get the name and address of the account holder. But you can't trace the address of an IP any closer than to the address of the ISP with any trace program unless your ISP has already posted it to some form of accessable database... Possible, but doubtful unless they have been monitoring a person for suspected activity and set up the trace in advance.

NeoTrace doesn't trace the individual’s location but rather the ISP's. From that you get a general idea where they are located and you can contact this ISP with a court order to have the ISP release the individual’s address.

This is why with credit card fraud a lot of the times the criminals will first crack a server in the USA (sometimes more) and route their requests through it. Then when they are done they try to delete all records of them connecting there. The same is usually done for denial of service attacks and this is why it's so important that everybody keep their systems secure. Until then it's going to be difficult to stop a lot of the illegal activity because people are able to hide their identity. That went slightly off topic. :)

If it was possible to get one's address I wouldn't be using the internet, since my dad works for the US government. But on the other hand, I live in a city of 14 million, so the closest somebody could get is the city I live in. :p

http://visualroute.visualware.com traces IPs to the user's ISP, giving the city as well. I use it all the time, spying on people's location is fun. ;) You can't get their actual address of course... unless they own a domain name.

Pfft.... I own an domain and you can't track crap with an APO address. It all boils down to Miami. Speaking of that I have to update my info (I still have old info in there from Ecuador). Then any mail is shipped out to the US Embassies throughout the world. That is what I use. :D :D

Anyone else feel like saying the same thing?

I own several domain names Hoth. Now tell me my address. :biggrin2:

Most people are dishonest with the info they use, and other people don't let anyone know what domains they own... but those few people who are honest plus have their domain listed, like me, are easily stalked. :p

Owning a domain has nothing to do with this...a static IP might.

Kwai Chung, N.T.,
18 Kin Hong Street,
15/F, Trans Asia Centre, 18 Kin Hong Street, Kwai Chung, Hong Kong

I have been there before and this is a real address of this company.

Couldnt it be possible that the company acutally wanted the public to find out that contact information?

No Listing of that down here in Miami and none of the Army personnel (including my father) are aware of that. Not even police offiers.

Ummm no. The APO office is in Miami. Everything then gets shipped off Cargo jets to the Embassies around the world. Highly classified packets too.
