Some host offer free shell access

When people ask for free gaming servers (a few allow, else paid) because not everyone can host gaming servers for everyone takes to much space and BW.

But some hosts still offer free shell access :o

How can you do that, then the user can upload a gaming server or whatever he wish with SSH access :confused4

You don't really need root access just SSH enabled and an SSH client to upload and install a Gaming/Ventrilo/Teamspeak server :S

For Gamservers using the Source engine they take up alot of space, like 2GB and alot of Bandwidth. They must be stupid. For Ventrillo/Teamspeak they're classed as an IRC so the host maybe get pulled up about it because on most servers they're forbidden.

ok but the thing is shell access is not good for untrusted people, because they can infect the server and (damage) it if they want to:

Whats the point? I can do all the same stunts by using PHP SHELL! Why need some host pointing out that he/she can use SSH!

No difference. Only problem will be when you have permissions setup.

I cannot tell you more. And dont remove it! If you are a core programmer working with kernel you will know. You seem to like this topic, who are you? Any group? Hacker or Cracker? Dont mess around with me if you aren't any of the above!



I think I am inviting big trouble by mentioning it. Please remove what ever you have said in that post and I too will remove. And forget what ever I told you. If you were a hacker/cracker you would know what I mean. Anyway pleas remove any trace of it!

ok like soldat and small games might work but you need to get executables and cfg files to work.

And use a special connection for those sort of files, isin't it so?

If this really works, I'm amased that people don't know about this :D
