Greetings Hosting Professionals,
I am looking for a WHM/CPanel Reseller Account and three dedicated IP addresses to be allocated as follows:
(1) a primary DNS server
(2) a secondary DNS server
(3) all other hosting
Each of the dedicated IP numbers requires a dedicated landing page. So if you use your web browser to visit each IP number the result should be as follows:
The first IP's web address (http://192.168.128.101) should land on the same page as the URL of my primary name server (http://ns1.mydomain.com). This requires that a web space be created. Of course the name of web space for an IP number makes no difference, but to keep everything straight we'll create the web space using a fake domain name that includes the IP number and the DNS server host name; which for the purposes of this description could be 192-168-128-101-NS1.COM. And finally, associate the 192.168.128.101 IP address with that space.
(Note that the web space can be created in the WHM, just like creating any other web space for any real domain name.)
The second IP is to be used in the same way as the first IP, except this one needs a web address (http://192.168.128.102) that lands on the same page as the URL for my secondary name server (http://ns2.mydomain.com). Again we'll use a fake domain name to create the web space. For the purposes of this description, we'll use 192-168-128-102-NS2.COM. And again, we'll associate the IP address with that space.
The third IP's web address (http://192.168.128.103) needs to land on the same page as the URL for my main WHM account (http://mydomain.com). Additionally, this third IP should be the one issued to all web space I create in the future using the WHM.
The above configuration allows me to control the home page for each of my DNS servers, as well as having the IP number of my client’s websites lead back to my hosting sales page. It also prevents any third party website from inappropriately appearing if someone accesses one of my clients using https – a common issue with shared hosting.
As I'm sure you noticed, my request anticipates that the same server will be used for both, primary and secondary DNS -- as well as hosting. While it's certainly not proper, I've found its a very popular configuration among those selling CPanel reseller hosting accounts. Of course, if you provide a real secondary DNS server at a separate location, then my three IP numbers wouldn't be in sequence -- or in the same Class C for that matter.
Anyway, that's the idea for the IPs. Add in some disk space and bandwidth, and give me a price we can both live with for a couple of years.
Thanks in advance –
