well I was wondering why it started, my i was still able to use the drive while it was still verifying

WHAT?

RAID is a self managing system (alledgedly) which in the correct config will manage itself to repair/correct errors and faults.

So might be time to do a diags on the disks as there was a problem but it may have just been a drop in data that the array repaired.

But most important, look at what level RAID you are using (1,5,10) then use the tools you should have to do diags.
