install apache if all you want is host a few files of yours.

Real hosts don't host clients off their home computer and their dsl connection.

http://www.ricocheting.com/server/apache.html

Follow the guide :)
In the step 5/6, you specify the directory you want with your files to share.

From your computer you can access this via 'localhost' in your browser's toolbar.
From a friend's computer, you'd type your IP address.

register with dyndns.org
look in your router, most have a config for dynamic dns services like dyndns
forward the 80 port to your computer

Off Topic, sorta...
How's vista? xD I don't have it yet but I just want some personal views on it.

Anyways, I'm sure they'll be updates or versions that will work on Vista soon.

I've heard Vista uses up memory pretty good, whats your experience as far as its memory usage?

Ummm switch to linux, and that'll make everything a whole lot easier.

Also, you'll need to forward some ports if you want to host files on your comp, and you really need a static IP, otherwise you'll just be messing around, but anyway, you also need a at least 1mb/s down AND up, and that's only probably good enough for 1 website anyway.

x, are you using the final or still the beta?
Did they finally add the 'UP' button in explorer?

You'd need a web server such as apache.
