The idea was one that Apple kind of tried with Apple accounts, or whatever they are called.

Anyway, you could totally get a MSN Space account! Its a blog and photo posting thing....its better than nothing!

Yes and no
We arnt talking 200 clients, If they did this it would be more like 2000000000000 clients :o

They could do it like you said if they really wanted too.
Knowing them they could mostlikley even make money from it via ads

I agree its not going to happen any time soon

I would rather Bill Gates spend his billions on charity than providing free web space, everyone has it already.

If Yahoo could Provide Geocities... Microsoft can think of doing some thing similar.....

I don't think Bill Gates is going to waste his money on free hosting anytime soon.

Geocities is terrible though. It would be more about the staff needed to maintain a cage or two to microsofts (supposed) standards. Plus it would windows servers, obviously.

again, not getting you decker :S :p

but seriously, the man gives like $750,000,000 a year to African health aid charities and helps fight TB ( at least i think its TB)

Why would he drop that to fund free webspace, i my like the internet as a great tool, but people have priorities.

A better company to do this on a really big scale would be google, but they already do gmail. so maybe this is out of the range, i dunno, anyway, why worry about it people, if you spend about 2 minutes looking you find great free hosting, already out there

Google already do webmail hosting of up to 2000GB (2gb x 1000) if you have a domain, they also did google pages. So I agree, I think if anyones going to be giving away decent free hosting anytime soon, it's going to be google.

they're like that, any young entrepenuers dream?: invent a google, hell, if i get a decent degree, i wouldnt mind working for them.

and whatya mean about the webmail? do you mean you can have like your own free mail service by just having a domain ? thats insane, but then, when they first released the plans for the amount of space that was going to be made available to gmail beta testers, the world thought it was an april fools joke, my how they were wrong :)

Why would you want a free hosting service from Microsoft?
