We were hacked! Due to some sloppy server configurations on the part of the company we hired from. We have moved to a more secure server with dedicated T1 line.

We have decided not to give out automatic free accounts as the amount of abuse and waste is not worth ours, mine or anyones time. I think we're going to stop handing out free accounts to everyman and his dog and just focus on people who are most willing to make something of the resources we can provide.

No information was lost and everyone with a valid website will have their account moved over to the new server

Sorry to hear that. But I'm glad to hear you are turning away from instant activation. Great move on that part!

Hope you work things out

I haven't read anything about "closing the free hosting accounts" from v0dka's posts. He said he will just stop the instant activation. I think you did not read his post properly..

Its being moved to the new server? In the process of moving over or DNS propogation? The post by v0dka according to my timezone is made today. So your site is probably in the process of being transferred.

You shud hunt down the guy who did it and give him the red hot poker treatment ..... if you need any help ensuring your server is secure from intruders this time then you know where I am.

I've sent you a PM (or am about to). Tell me the name of your site and I will see that it's moved within the next few hours. We're currently installing IPB again and then i'm going to send out an email to eveyone.

The reason your site stopped working is because it was on the valve-hosting nameservers which have been transfered to new ip's on the new server.

Due to to some very annoying people we're not going to be able to automaticly restore back ups automaticly. Please read this

http://forum.valve-hosting.com/index.php?

The back-ups are safe but we simply dont have time to restore over 200 accounts. We have several important issues to address right now so we would kindly ask anyone who wants

a back up
to have a new account created so they may restore their back up

to post here or on the blog, so we may get on with the issues that affect the main site and our free users as a whole.

Zirkov, I have your back up on my HD and will restore it for you asap. If any of the outside staff are here please PM me.

It's ok. I was trying to set up a blog to let people know but since I intsalled php5, php5 wont start! Things are under control, it's just taking a while to get the new server set up the way we want it.
