800Gb Space and Bandwidth for $10 is big overselling...but still, it's VERY cheap.

You won't get it from a reliable host

Well, if you're satisifed you should stay with him.
I don't think that anyone will offer you a 800GB Space/Bandwidth reseller for $10/Mo

romes,
Unlimited does not exist when it comes to hosting. Your friend is what we call an "Overseller" and they are looked down upon in the hosting world. Your friend cannot really offer you 800GB diskspace, he's just doing it to get money.
Look for a more reliable host, but expect to pay about $1 per GB of space and $1 per 10GB bandwidth.

my friend owns and runs his own servers. to my knowledge, he has 8 servers so far, and is getting rdy to buy another one this weekend. so in all fairness, he can offer 800gb, and i know theres no such thing as unlimted, but its good to know you can make good plans with it.

Romes,
We (galaxy-solutions) own over 200 dedicated servers. We could still not afford to give 800GB away for only $10 per month, even to friends or family, it would cost us a minimum of $50 per month for a 500GB hard drive.

But as said before - You won’t find anything like what you are getting now from a reliable host. And everything is fine at the moment, but what if you start to take up too much space on your friend’s server? There has to be a limit, and I’m going to guess than he does not even have 160+GB on his server.
Only time will tell, but all (Yes, all, not most) overselling hosts disappoint you at one time of another, it's just a matter of time.

He may have been around for a while bud and own a few servers. Heck, he could even own a full Datacenter. But what he is giving and offering you is totally rediculous and I would be very weary of someone offering those kind of packages for that price. Especially when they are offering "Unlimited" space or bandwidth. The impression he is giving me, regardless of how long he is about etc, is that your friend hasn't got a single clue about hosting.

try asking the guy if he can give you the details of his server :) and maybe point out to him that he might be considered an overseller by those that understand the figures, that would certainly be helping your friend out :) infact, you could recommend him to these forums, he could then get a good idea of the sorts of plans he should be offering :)

Ya, isn't that not surprising? He also probably has Unlimited Servers with Unlimited processors
Edit: the point is, 800 gigs isn't easily given or even usually given. Most hosts would oversell huge just for the money, and or they will be shut down in matter of months if they give you such resources.

guys i didnt mean he could offer unlimited, i know as well as anyone that that is a scam, but im just giving the guy some advice about how to ask his friend about what we have said, without outright calling him a scam and an overseller, which would be akward with a genuine friend :)

You want to spend less then 10$/mo for 0.8 TB monthly data transfer, yet you can afford a premium 150$ IPB forum?
