He gave you a green, so it went up. When a negative number gets closer to zero, it's bigger than those farther away from zero. Thus, -9 is a higher rank than -17.

What I wanted to know is the point per green rep.
If, -17 + x = -9
then, x = 8.
Is it now safe to conclude that a one green rep is +8?

Yeah I tried answers.com and it said necessary but I seem to have a distinct memory of someone saying neccessary... so I just decided to confirm. Maybe I remembered wrongly since I am known for my bad memory.
