if y'all have already seen this, i apologize, but i got it in my inbox:

"We have now set a maximum file size limit of 5MB for all files uploaded into your account

We have already imposed this limit and files larger then 5mb can no longer be uploaded
However already uploaded files will be allowed to stay if they do not consume unreasonable ammounts of bandwidth

I would also like to take this opportunity to appologise for the recent downtime over the last 3 days
This was neccessary to increase the server performance due to the recent increase in usage
We will try to keep downtime to a minimal where at all possible

Many people have asked us when FTP/MySQL will be coming
Unfortunately it has been delayed much longer then was originaly thought but they will be available in the next few weeks"

5mb? They have no idea what they're getting thereselves into!
The servers will be overloaded with Warez in no time.
Warez pups still manage to put up files on servers with 1mb limits just by breaking them up into smaller pieces.
If they're smart they WILL reduce the upload file size to prevent such occurences :P

Warez fits in 2.88 chunks... they don't even need repack..
RIPS, that is.

With no FTP, warezers half to browser upload...and with 5mb chunks of lets say, a 300mb file...that's about 60 browser uploads... ::shudders::

but i mean what's the max upload fields in homefree? that would save some time.
and i mean if you really wanted to get that stuff up there you'd just write a script in perl and have it do all your dirty work

or write an uploading program in c++...

and anyway, most warezpeople arenīt afraid to do a little work... if they wanna stay up they should get below the 1mb line in filesize limits...

Well some people don't have a life... and can't find another free service with a file size limit of 5MB. If I were them I would reduce that to 200-500k.

Why would anyone spend so much money and time on warez? How does it earn them any money? Heck, if theyre caught, they'll have to pay alot!

People do it for respect, and to feel that they're popular on the net. Well, at least from experience, that's what people generally think.

Warez isnt really a problem
I scan for regular warez filesizes such as a load of files with exactly the same size and other things like watching referers from known warez sites and monitoring files cls*nn.zip myt*nn.zip dev-*.rar/001 flt*.rar/001 etc...

anyway the reason for the 5mb limit was people uploading large movie clips, game demos etc...
