This will be my first host purchase so I need some help. Do most hosts have an easy interface, such as brinkster or angelfire? These are the type of hosts I am used to. I also need a good and very reliable host and heres the minimum of what I need
*Domain Parking (Already purchased a domain)
*At least 150 Mb
*5 gigs bandwidth
*CGI
I also only want to pay yearly at a reasonable price.
Gimme some good recommendations.

No hardly any have a angelfire style interface
Also 99% of pay hosts require you to use FTP (well provide it)
CGI is useless without FTP, you can't CHMOD

OMG, do you know anything about web hosting??

You can change mode using Shell. Just type chmod 0755 yourscript.sh for bash!

Yes, Roly does know quite alot about webhosting. Many hosts won't give out SSH access for security reasons. How do you propose to do a chmod 0755 yourscript.sh without a command line? FTP is your friend.

What I wanted to say is that FTP is not the only tools you can do CHMOD. You can still change permission for your script using SSH or a web-based file manager if it is a well written one. FTP is mainly used for file transfer and usually for those people doesn't know SSH. Hehe... I doubt you know more than me...

I haven't seen AngelFire's interface in years, but if you want an interface for uploading/managing/editing files, then look for hosts with CPanel4. CPanel4 (and most probably CPanel3 too) has an integrated File Manager web interface included.
My Recommendation: www.byzhosting.com
They are reliable, and have good support.

Ensim also has a file manager.

You should learn some coding, ftp, and chmoding before you jump into paid web space territory, paid webhostings usually use FTP as default method of uploading. Most of us hated the old angelfire interface anyways. And people are right, CGI(as well as PHP) is quite worthless without ftp.
