To the free hosters...

Something that has always... um... Interested me...

Can't really think of the word but why do free hosts provide services? I mean sure you get ad revenue but what is your reason? Just because your nice? Ad revenue won't help you if the site isn't active...

Forum posting? Why would you want this? To see your forums active? And how do people that don't request anything in return like 360zone hosting stay alive?

Isn't this just a drop in revenue?

Well if people like you didn't exist then people like me who have no possible way of paying for my host because the money we do make go to servers that we provide to other people for the sake of fun.

The reason I run a clan is to see it used... I like working on something and watching other people enjoy it. Are free hosters the same way?

For me, yes. My free forum and blog host, WebringAmerica (http://www.webringamerica.com) is my project. I like working on it and seeing it used. I also like that I am providing a service for people that they enjoy. Since I do it for enjoyment and experience I don't put ads on it, as for me it's not about the money.

Why do I run a free host? It's very simple actually; because I enjoy it. They post in my community, not because we force it, but it's the least they can do for the services they receive.

We pay out, and paying back your host in something other than currency should be expected.

Actually FREE Hoster can gain some revenue from ads and Donation... sometimes the revenue better then paid hosting because of they have a lot of client...:-)
