hey all
within 2 weeks i will be giving free hosting
starting i will host only low bandwidth sites
i will only give 200 accounts
i acc will have 100 mb space and 250 mb bandwith as i am on trial run and on a small resller
150 accounts will be ad supported
and rest will be posting [ for 15 posts/month on forum ]
im new to this
so im asking senior webhosts is there anyway of improving my current decision
will it be better to give 100 accs with 200 mb space and 500 mb bandwidth
i have no idea
thats why im starting very small till i learn anyway i know linux and programming so it wont be kiddie host and the reseller acc is on a managed server

IMO (I'm not a host at all) the 200/500 will be a bit better for you. You will have less people to deal with and the people will have more to work with. I see that working out better than the other one. Don't do it if you can't last very long. Good luck.

Dude, no offence but I dont see people taking you up on that offer, there are far larger accounts available from reputable free hosting companies.
You're going to need to give clients a reason to go with you, free isnt enough.

well currently there's only one reason
i help the users to get their site up always
and the sites will never be down as i have a backup server which is entirely in a different location
i could offer more always
i have found not even a person has used more than 30 mb
so i could oversell but im not going to because less the accounts the easier to manage

Ah but logic has nothing to do with it, just because a user wants to install wordpress doesn't mean they will download wordpress see how big it is, calculate thier database size and then look for hosting on that basis, instead they'll sign into here and start searching for the largest package they can find with the most features, currently that's not you.
I'd suggest it would be better to offer services on a different scale, offer to host a few large sites and give them what they need, then when you have a good reputation and some experience you can upscale your operation and you'll have a small but loyal client base to upscale with.

1 GB B/w per month = 100,000 Pageviews
50GB B/W per month = 60,000,000 Pageviews per annum.
One application will on MOST occasions use no more than 1 MySQL Databases
Infact many applications will allow multiple installation on 1 DB
A 15 page website (minus addons) should take up no more than 2 MB
A high quality picture will take up 2 MB while most will take up a mere 70 KB
1024 KB = 1 MB 1024 MB = 1 GB
depends

so what do ou mean by large sites?
i provide 100mb space and 1 gig bandwidth for small sites
and custom packages for who really deserve and have the hits and a domain
so i am not only interested in promoting established ppl i will help others to be established

Am I missing something?
Your sites will never be down because you have an offsite backup server? That doesn't make sense. A backup server stores, well, backups. So if you actually do backup your files, and your main server goes down you will still have downtime until the backups are re-instated.

hmm
weekly we take backups and restore them and the other reseller works as addon
and can be activated INSTANTLY in 5-10 minutes if one goes down so downtime is very less
100% uptime is never possible and i have never guaranteed it
so sites will never be down for long time or a noticeable time

Well you said never so that seems to be implying that you are guaranteeing 100% uptime.
Anyway, KRAK_JOE has a reasonable point. Just because people don't need that much doesn't mean they don't look for that much. In fact, there are people who only use 100 MB Space and 1GB B/W but they request for a few gigs of space and b/w.
