We've upgraded the kernel to see if this resolved the stalling issues. Please post here to tell us if you have noticed any improvements or if you are still experiencing problems. I'm making this thread sticky for now. Thanks.
One more thing, keep this thread on topic. Any off topic posts will be removed.

Mmm... good. :)
It's a good fast speed, much better than some of the slowdowns I've been experiencing.

Would you mind sending me a PM with a trace? I see your location is listed as Singapore, which may be part of the problem. I'm not sure what the routing is like from Singapore so that may play a role in why it’s slows for you. I could be wrong though, and the kernel upgrade may not have fixed everything. Let’s wait until more reports come in and see what the general reaction is like.

The board is still slow for me as well right now, but that seems to be network related.

I have been testing for a while now and it is a lot faster than it has been for days. :classic2:

It's fine. I don't see any change, but then again, I wasn't here during that supposed "downtime."

It's the usual: Blistering fast for me.

Now it's like the days before the blocks, the ups & downs. Not faster, not slower.

Nope, still stalls for me. Not as bad as before, but still a fair bit. It'll be going really fast; then I'll click 'Reply' or something and it'll take ages to get there.
I'm on cable, so it really shouldn't be doing that...
Hmmm.
It has improved from yesterday, though!

Could you send a traceroute to me via PM? I find it interesting that it appears better but not fixed as it should have fixed it, but if not it shouldn't have improved at all. Anyway, if you send a trace during when you notice a problem it might help to rule out network issues.
Let's keep the posts coming. I'm rather certain the kernel fixed it as I've been monitoring it closely all night and it hasn't stalled once for me but as always I'm interested to hear if you're having problems.

Most sites stall every so often with my isp but usually they should load immediately. Most times the speed is pretty fast but sometimes it stalls.

I find it generally quite fast, but it still at times slows to a crawl for no apparent reason. Particularly when submitting a form, like replying to or creating a thread. Often times I have to post two or three times before it finally goes through.

Actually if you check the announcement you'll see the main changes have been for Windows and not for FreeBSD. http://www.apache.org/dist/httpd/Announcement.html
When it involves security issues that impact us we upgrade immediately as we've done with past kernel upgrades, the last PHP upgrade, and others. Otherwise if it isn't broke don't fix it. :)
DialTone is aware of their network issue and are working to fix it. Apache has nothing to do with the problem. Regardless though once we test it's stability on our test box all systems will receive the Apache upgrade. Latest isn't always best and in fact often latest means you are the bug tester. :)

Eeeeh...since you are quoting me... I joked about them being lazy for not checking around a little. I got the data from the http headers the server is sending.

Todd
March 23rd, 2002, 07:41
Sorry, didn't realize that was sarcastic. :D
Well DialTone is aware of the problem and working on it. I'm going to lock the thread as that is the latest update and the reports were enough to determine that the problem wasn't just kernel related.
I'll leave it sticky for now so people don't start a new thread asking about it. Thanks for all your reports and traceroutes, it's appreciated.

We've replaced the Cisco switch and as far as I can tell it appears to have taken care of it. It's not so much about the speed of the site as it is the stalling of the site. Where you have to submit a message two or more times and such. This may not have fixed it, it's to early to tell so if you experience the problems please post here. Thanks.
