Hello,

I'm planning to help develop a script that has been in development for awhile, and I would like to know what you think and how much you would be willing to pay.

The script would include:

- Full integration into phpBB2
- post2host - Your packages have an initial post requirement, and a monthly post requirement.
- Account creation form (See here (http://gdmail.net/uploads/sitepla0r47b.gif))
- Auto generated TOS
- IP Logging
- Admin Validation (On/Off)

What I wish to know, is how much hosts would be willing to spend on this system (One time) and what else they would like to be included into the final system (EG: Support system, etc)

Thanks.

PS: This is not a sale, it's a research post and the product wont be ready for awhile.

Probably around £20, being phpBB it's probably still got the old bugs/security issues as a hangover.

The account creation form is very comprehensive, a great thing :)

Auto post to host I think would be a real bonus for the folks here that run that system.

Integration with an existing support system or your own bespoke would be a must, and a pay option with a gateway API would be my best guess for features (hell might even buy one ....) I would see as a plus.

Pushing my luck ; ) but a feature to include automatically to a page the whole list of the hosts 'hosted' boards would be another plus.

Good work :D

Decker,

Thanks for the feedback and the interesting idea's :P

Integration with an existing support system Which kind of systems are you talking about? Ones already integrated with phpBB, or OSTicket and the like?

a pay option with a gateway API would be my best guess for features I can see how that would be good, but I fail to see how it would be applicable to the system, after all, this is for phpBB, they need to have a forum account to create a hosting account, do you mean payment API like paypal, or script API as in the user can register for a hosting account outside the forum software with their username and password?

PS: I may just be having a blonde moment on that last point ;)

Ah I got it wrong way round :D making the account from the forum not the other way around.

I thought making the hosting account for a phpBB account - DOH!

:P No problem.

But still, that support idea, would you like to expand on it a little? as it's still relevant. :P

Yep, even a themed redirect to a ticket system although better if it was integrated.

Would it be an idea to have a 'private' section with public posting (just like a ticket system so the user is logged in but can only see their posts in there (and admin/mod posts) which would be a basic ticket sysytem.

Or, because scripts like OST are already real good at managing clients, instead of writing a support suite you could just write a class to post topics created in a particular section of the board to the support suite under the name of the user, that way your hostees get to work where they are comfortable and so do you and it gets you outa "integration" as such, it would just be a case of gettin the correct permissions on one part of the forum rather than writing a whole nother application

i dont think i would buy it. i would rather make my own. :p but, if you need some help, let me know. i am making a fully customizable CMS right now that can be used for any site, but maily targeting web hosting sites. it is just beginning, but, coming along very nicely.

you can check it out in demo mode if you would like. there are a lot of new features that are being implimented though.

Well I would only be asking for $20-$30 per license, one off fee. But this is going to be a little more advanced than your normal cPanel account creating script.

Users will be able to change their account domain, password, etc, upgrade their accounts and apply special upgrades that last for a set period of time if they make a good post, or something.

When you have created the script, If all what you say is true, you have a customer here.

When do you expect the script do finished and completed testing ?

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

We are currently working on the ACP being integrated in the phpBB ACP, it's going well, and overall, I would say we are around 60% complete.

I should have a fully working demo up in a matter of around 14 days.

Very nice, if only we used phpBB :P. Maybe an IPB one in the future. I'm very interested in the system after where you can modify account information.
