www.afraid.org are the best
The only thing, if you submit a domain it will need to go in the public registry
there is a few others I know of but they are really slow.

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

I think he means where he can manage a record for his domain, not a DNS server in general

If so, http://www.zoneedit.com might be a good choice for him.

But when he said primary and secondary nameservers, what was he referring to? The ability to change nameservers, or having nameservers so that he can direct his domain to the Managed DNS service?

No, he wants to *define* a record, not look it up

No, he wants to *define* a record, not look it up
Unless I am mistaken, that's what ZoneEdit does?

But afraid.org requires you to either pay or share your domain with everyone else in the world =\

I guess that's the only downside for those who wants to keep their domain for themselves only... :(

Try EditDNS.net, its hell fast and damn user friendly.

Very easy to manage, fully AJAX'd... they are good! I manage all my ~30 domains from their CP.

Russo, don't try EditDNS

No-IP (http://no-ip.org) is much better... AND you don't share your domain with the world
