So it seems she decided to skip school today.
Being the smart cookie she is, she unpluged the phone as well, so the school can't leave a message.
But it seems the mother outsmarted her and plugged back in the phone when she saw no lights on it
And a few minutes later the school left a message on the answering machine. Busted :p
I'll have to tell her to unplug the phone cable from the voip modem instead next time; it's a more efficient and stealthy way to make the phones not working :p
Actually I wont. I expected her to be smarter.

Haha, yes live and learn. If you are going to skip, at least do it right. Not that I could talk though, I was pretty obvious when I didn't go to school during high school. I just went home and slept. If the school called, well, I answered and told them I was sleeping :p

I used to just walk out of school, never worried about being caught, since kids have been able to get away with pretty much anything over the last few years - perents cant do anything to stop it :o

back in Syria kids were treated differently,
in my old school instead of spending money on repairing windows/lights upgrading computer lap, the school staff decided to higher the walls.
YES it was like a prison
u come in
u go to class
in lunch you go in the field which is surrounded by walls (now they are much higher and harder to climb)
back door/front door is locked and it only can be opened by the VP.
but it was fun :P
we used to go from 7:30 to 12:00 only and we had the rest of the day free.

School is no fun, but I don't have the guts to skip it yet.
Plus my mother is home, so obviously she would want me to go to school. :P

Your mum doesn't mind yoir sis to stay at home? I mean it's only due to a call from school she learns about her skipping school?

Funny isn't it, all the way through childhood you have it drummed into your head that "honesty is the best policy", and then when you go ahead and say something like "I'd just rather be in bed, or at a mates house than here with you idiots", all hell breaks loose .....
Wow, funny. So your mom wouldn't have noticed the fact that she didn't go to school?

I'd usually just skip for no reason at least once a month when I was in high school. My senior year, almost every week at least one day. High school was a such a joke, they spoon fed you everything. I never read anything or did any homework, just listened in class (when I was there) and ended up with a 3.76. Even my AP classes were a breeze.
It's a good thing I was enrolleded and taking classes at the local community college my last two years of high school or else I would have never been ready for University life where you actually have to learn a large portion of the material on your own.
I think high schools in America really need to change structure and raise the bar. I know in certain areas high schools are amazing as far as the courses and college preperation they offer, but in many places it's just plain awful.

The important thing to do when you skip school, is at least show up for your first class. Then leave.
I skipped all the time.
One time when I got caught skipping, they gave me ISS, and I skipped that too.
I was such a rebel.

When I used to skip we still had dialup internet. So I just connected it in the morning on auto-reconnect on disconnect and went out to have some fun. Then when the school called it disconnected the line, but automatically reconnected. No messages on answering could be left so I was clean :p

You know, i think it takes way too much energy to skip. You have to be on the lookout the whole day. you have to make sure nobody comes in (older brothers/sisters, PARENTS). You have to make sure no one sees you through the windows (snoopy neighbors especially) and its not like you can call anyone or hang out with anyone. You cant really go outside. I mean, all you get to do is close your blinds and sleep all day. Fun.
Either way, im too much of a goody goody to try it anyway. To those dare devils who are going to try or have tried to do it, I give you credit for doing so :P

Where is there to go though?
I think im too much of a suburbs kinda kid. I mean if you live in a rural area or a town with lots of old people/young people its OK, but in my town 80% of the people living here are parents with kids. 70% of their kids are still in a local school (grades PreK-12) so its not really easy to go anywhere. And since we are one of the largest towns in our area, the cops are everyone (well every plaza eating Dunkin Donuts or at the Diners)

In Singapore, there are plenty of places for people who skip school to go. :P

I don't even have that problem anymore, since I'm in college. Although I still go to high school part-time, I dropped a bunch of it and only attend one class there (Which no longer takes attendance for me.)
Sigh, my new living space has two phones.
I've never been caught. My first high school only called home if you didn't show up at all AND had more than 5 unexcused absenses in a month time period. Which was solved by going to first period.
We'd just leave. Then we'd go skate (we'd normally jump the subway turnstiles and then go to this area called Little Five Points to skate. You could walk down the street smoking a joint and nobody would bother you there -- I've seen it happen many times. You'll just get random comments like "Ohhhh that smells mighty good" from elderly folks on their porches). Or go smoke. Or drink (just a little, nothing too crazy). We'd always skip in groups. My parents never found out about this, and I never got in trouble with the school.
In 11th grade, I went to another high school, but they didn't call home at all. So I ended up just sleeping in a lot. My mom didn't mind this because I was doing well in all my classes, and you could get a million tardies and they wouldn't do anything.
This past year (12th), I didn't skip at all.
