Dont know about the chat but - http://www.miniclip.com/ has flash games that you can chose to be either remotely or self hosted.

You could use frames. One frame could have a game and the other could have the chat. Or this could be done in a table if you don't like frames.

well exactly let's say 2 people playing backgammon and chat each other while playing.

of course more simple games can be :)

go to http://www.yahoo.com and search for a game like chess, checkers, or backgammon and then above all the search results, it will put a link and next to it will say something like "Play [game] at Yahoo! Games!". Then, go there and sign in using your Yahoo! ID and passwd then you can play and chat at the same time.

yahoo games is fun (I like the pool),but I don't think your gonna get that for free,you coult buy chess/pool tables @ yahoo (or so I thought)
