Yes and no,

You are basicly harbouring illegal activites by doing this, you shouldnt be offering them to be downloaded, however you cannot stop someone from saving the image etc.

It is illegal.
It's copyrighted. Therefore you have no right to publically display or distribute the images.

Displaying an image isnt illegal, its claiming it as your own.. If he was to have an movie review site, and showed the cover it would be legal to do..

but yes the actions the op wants to do is illegal.

So displaying a copyrighted image, such as a CD cover and claiming it as your own, in your eyes, is ok?

If I ever need hosting I hope I remember that.

The OP actually never said that he was claiming them as his own he stated that he would be sharing them with others on the site. If you have a movie review site or music review site then yes it is legal to show the artist covers etc. However if you are just creating a site for users to strictly download the covers of copywritten material then yes you are looking at some legality issues.

Your missing what hes saying. Hes stating that if you had a movie review site and with the title of the movie you had a picture of the cover it would be legal. Depending on the context of which the picture is being displayed.

Dan looks like I typed way to fast earlier, NO, displaying an copyright image is okay as long as you dont claim as your own.

Apologizes for that, was thinking ahead of myself...

Ok,

Before I get attacked again, I better state what I meant.
If you display an image on your site that is copyrighted by someone else and you claim it as yours, that's illegal.
I agree, displaying images such as a DVD cover or Book Cover to advertise a DVD or Book or Review it etc, is fine as Reference is already pointing to the copyright owner.
Nowhere in my post did I say that was illegal.

Try and get permission from companies like ign.com I got permission one time from ign.com to display media from the site. You just have to know where to look but getting permission is always the best idea.
