I was just viewing the forums, and noticed that theres been a good amount of times, when people are posting ads for there company as the first post.

I was thinking that in order to maybe slow down spammers and fraud companies, if we were to set an X amount of posts before being able to place an offer or ad in the Paid Hosting, Paid Dedicated Section and Ads and Offers, we may be able to crack down on those spamming there services on the first post.

This would help build the community as well. Just an idea, I know some other communities do this thought maybe we could start, whats everyone else's opinion?

I agree actually and think it would help keep spammers at bay.

Or, how about only allowing them to post an ad once per month until they've reached a certain # of post counts, then they can post weekly like everyone else?

I like the sound of that one, closing it off will just force them to post spam replies and posts in other places to gain access to that particular area.

That would work as well.. Just after reading some ads about people offering there service, there website not done and it was there first post... That drives me nuts lol.

LOL your not alone, thats the first thing i look for when reviewing a service ad is the company's website, if its not available it does irritate me just a little :)

You and I both know how impossible that would be to enforce ;)

I kind of like the idea too. Make a 10 post requirement or something fairly low.

I would say if you were going to enforce a minimum post amount to go somewhere around 50-100 posts. If you only require 10 that only takes a few mins to post 10 useless posts, to post 50-100 takes time and may slow them down and put some thought into posting or just leave

I think I'd rather clean up one spammy post than 11 or 100. Not everyone joins to spam or scam and the moderators all keep a pretty good eye on things.

There are some members who only post ads, but all forums have those kinds of people. They might be a regular contributor at one forum, then join many others just to post their weekly ad. Some of our FWS regular members I see posting only ads at other forums.

That is true Jan,

It was just an idea :), of course you guys have a pretty tight ship here and you all know what needs to be done, so :) what ever works for you guys works for me :)

It is correct that some people first come here to just advertise their service. Some stay to post other things later on though. How many of them will not bother to post or even become members if we require them to post 10 or 50 other messages first? And how interesting will those messages be?

So, I'm not so sure a post requirement in Ads & Offers would be good. I'm with Jan on this. Atleast for now, although I see your point.

I admit when i first joined FWS it was strictly to advertise my service, as time progress i found that i loved the actual community here and decided to become more active. I agree with the staff :) lets keep it as is because it invites more members to become more active.
