Had to dig a little:

https://cert.startcom.org/?app=101&type=1

To get there:

Products > Free Certificates > Certificate Creation Wizard

If your site is blacklisted someone might have been sending out spam who is located on your I.P, you should be able to get removed.

This link might help you http://www.dnsstuff.com/tools/ip4r.ch?%26ip%3Dproshosting.net

It's bad look into it, might be an old server or a current one, new IP or again an old one associated with you, but definately get it looked at.

There are SSL generators, which generate a key for you, the encryption tends to be very weak but it is free. Are you looking for a certain strength?

There are scripts you can run on your server, they are called self signed certs. These will generally generate a warning in web browsers though

Ouch. Your whole datacenter seems to be blacklisted:

Entry matching your Query: E-178636
75.126.0.0/16

(Your IP: 75.126.190.224)

A self signed cert doesn't have to be weak, you can create it as strong as you want. The value of a paid certificate is trust, most browsers will have the main SSL providers root certificate installed by default resulting in acceptance of the paid browsers and a certificate prompt for a non-trusted browser.

There did used to be a community trusted certificate, I think it was ca-cert or something similar, but this required the user to install their root certificate in order to trust the certificates.

If it's just for password or other data protection, then self cert is OK, if it's for finance, then you really want a trusted certificate.

You may of course generate and sign your own SSL certs. But startcom is now recognized by Firefox 2 (and above) but not IE. So even though this is free, at least Firefox users won't have the problem of the CA not being accepted.
